A friend of mine was looking to buy a rental property near campus. We looked at a few on Brent Road and it's a lot more ghetto than I ever remember it. One we looked at had at least 10 members of a black family with no furniture, but a PS3 on a plasma screen in a half of a duplex.

Yup, real crime is up significantly in that area because they drove out the college population. Sooo, the only other population groups looking for shitty housing moved in. As a result things like robbery and assault are up significantly. On the plus side, "nuisance parties" are down.

Yeah, I remember that, a couple of people I know where at the party that got shot at. However, that was not the same weekend as Brent Rd. The way the post about the crackdown occurring after the shooting read made it seem like there had been a shooting during the Brent Rd. block party, which I did not recall.

Seems like this incident had more to do with irresponsible and reckless gun ownership than a block party.

You're an idiot. That happened at Hunter's creek, which is off of KAPLAN. It states that in the article. That incident had absolutely nothing to do with Brent Road getting shut down.

^^ I don't know. I have a relative who was on the board of directors at the time and it was a pretty huge deal to them. I think it just got the ball rolling on the cops battling fun.

Benson Kirkman tried to sell his house in 2005-06 with a clause saying that the property could not be rented out and must be owner occupied.

He even had an attorney draw up an agreement that was supposed to be part of the contract. I don't think that actually stuck when he sold it. It sat for sale vacant for quite some time.

^ I figured I would try to find it, since I knew the approximate location. I got lucky b/c there are a bunch of houses on Brent Road. It was the 2nd one that I clicked.

On a semi-related note, the Hunters Creek pool is listed as being located at 0 Brent Road. http://tinyurl.com/2upjhu It says the land occupies 6.2 acres, yet the assessed value is only $260, weird.
