ok so nvidia recently released their 9600 GT cards at (EVGA ~$190) Brand compared to a 8800 GT(EVGA ~$260) they are about 12% less powerful despite having 33% less processing power and only 64 stream processors. whats everyones take on these new cards and if you would building a new TODAY which would you get)

in my case i vote for a 9600

considering the numbers, and the fact that my 8600GTS is adequate for my gaming/computing needs, i would think that if you want something more powerful, but aren't willing to drop ~$250 on a card, the 9600GT is a good alternative

i suppose something was needed to fill the gap between the ~$110 8600GTS series and the ~$250-300 8800xx series

on a related note, here's the 8800GS for $160:

^ yeah its $160 but i've never really trusted the low end pricing. (not to say XFX isn't a good brand its just I've never used one.) Whenever i have a choice i pick EVGA mainly because i yet to have a DOA card from them as i have from PNY and some of the other low end places. and BFG Tech is twice as much as almost any card on the market so I'll never touch those

anyway back to the topic yes the 9600 is a good way to fill the gap between the 8600 and the 8800. I fi hadn't just bout a 8600 GTS last month one of these new cards would already be in the mail box
