i was thinking about changing my ways. and instead of shredding stuff, i can just scan it all into my computer and PDF it or whatever. cause i never shred stuff, i just keep it, and have tons of papers. it it was all acrobat files, it would be easier to find stuff. and the 20 "really" important papers where an original would come in handy -- i could just keep those in a safe or a bank box or something
then all the shit like car repair bills and old w2s and tax shit, i can burn the paper or recycle it or something
but i dont wanna scan it in one by one or i'll never do it. i need a scanner that top loads with documents. like a backwards printer
anyone got one, list some model numbers PLZ. i dont need anything super cool that does 300x300dpi at 200 pages per minute and can scan both sides at once of something the size of a newspaper. but if those are the same price lemme know!!1 2/21/2008 9:32:26 PM |

oh really, they're that much? i was hoping i could find a used one without the enterprise level features or whatnot for something like 50 bucks. i don't need one of the crazy ones like you'd find at work that scan pages faster than printers print. the ones that you need something like laserfiche to handle. hahaha, that would be wild though (but i'd be done scanning my shit in in about 3 minutes tops if i had one of those XEROX brand ones... i think its xerox)
oh well if anyone knows of a cheaper older hp or something that does single sides on a roller/feeder @ about 10 pages per minute (pure b/w, no color necessary. i have a "decent" scanner for stuff like photos if i ever need it) that would be optimal. 2/21/2008 10:00:19 PM |

i bought my parents an all in one printer for christmas. this was a Brother (don't remember model no.) but it has printer, fax, scanner and copier in it. the scanner had a top-load auto document feeder (ADF - what you're looking for). it doesn't fly through pages but it scans in .pdf format, and can handle around 20 pages in the feeder i think.
i got it cheap from best buy - like $60 around christmas. they're on bensbargains and slickdeals relatively frequently, just keep an eye out. 2/21/2008 10:11:33 PM |

thanks for the info. 60 sounds fair, especially new. plus i wouldnt mind a backup printer for when mine runs out of ink, etc... even though i really dont need the other features. got a good single pic scanner, and i can send and get faxes free at work, or if they're top secret i can get them in my box at the ups store. ill check out brothers website for one thats not multi-function (even though i remember from working at office max that they seem to specialize in those things)
thanks
