nader is officially running for president again (green party)

now all we need is for ron paul to get on the ballot as a libertarian

I think Paul already said he wouldn't run as a libertarian. If a pro-war/big-spending party doesn't want him, then he's out of the race.

You can write in anybody, but unless they have gotten enough signatures to be a certified write-in candidate in North Carolina, your vote counts for nothing (I think that's right--I might have made it up).

p.s. Nader, my man, you've done some great things in your time, but seriously: fuck you, buddy.

somebody, somewhere ... could be deciding that their life's calling is the job of becoming an assassin.

I mean, it ain't me... I got a kid to raise. Besides, JoeSchmoe officially disavows using murder as a political tool.

...

But I wonder who it might be.

@ShinAntonio: If you think Nader has accomplished nothing with his life, you are highly misinformed. Unsafe at Any Speed alone has marked him as one of the most influential people in the public realm in the 20th century.

I fucking hate him for 2000, though.

Stop bashing Nader. It's people like you guys that force us to have to vote for "The Lesser of Two Evils" every Presidential election. Having a two party system is a failure.

All we need is Bloomberg to jump into the race and we can have a free-for-all in November.

(Personally, I think a Bloomberg candidacy will have a greater impact on the results than a Nader one.)

I don't know about the numbers accuracy, but I do think Obama & Ron are where a lot of the would be third party support is now.

i went to Nader's website, because I hate myself apparently, but came across this gem.

Quote :
"12 Issues that Matter for 2008

Impeach Bush/Cheney"

Let me get this straight. Once you're President Mr. Nader, you'll go back in time, assumingly with a wind powered hamster tricycle, and impeach what would be in current time the former President and VP?

Okay.

Not by the sitting President, since he does not have the authority to convene a grand jury.

People are engaged and will turn out for this election, and understand it is too important to throw a vote at another Ralph Nader ego trip. He won't get 0.5% this time around.

"first past the post", winner-take-all, voting forces a two-party system. any third party is doomed to failure and the effect will only be to take away votes from the one mainstream candidate that is closer to their positions.

someone needs to knock that motherfucker off.

Well, I can only hope it will draw votes away from Obama.
However, I doubt even the Greens would be dumb enough to pull another Gore-Bush 2000.

That would mean Nader would be the only candidate running that wants to pull ALL the troops out of Iraq. I'd vote for him over all the other candidates.

^^^ The system wasn't built that way though. The US has had multiple parties for the first hundred years and some change of its existence. It's a fairly recent 20th century thing, the 2 party system. Somewhere along the way, the military-industrial complex contorted our politics to what it is today. It has evolved.

^ im not so sure about that... its been FPTP voting and a two party system since early-to-mid 19th century, long before Eisenhower's warning

^^^ wait, let me get this straight, socks... you're saying if your gal Hillary loses the DNC nomination, you're going give your vote to the Republican candidate? interesting.

I think Nader knows he wont win. I think he does this to get the message out about the environment.

What are some of his other policies, Id like to look at them.
