Anyone know of a good place to have a washer looked at? Or anyone here ever repaired them before and looking for some extra cash?
It seems the only problem is that the basket doesn't spin. It fills and drains just fine. I figure it may be possible that the belt slipped while moving it, is worn, or broke or something. But I don't have the tools to open the bottom up and take a look. I also looked around on the internet and it seems like something that could be fairly easy to fix. Like I said, I don't have the tools to look at it myself but would be willing to pay to have it repaired.
It's a Maytag.
And obviously I can and have searched the white pages. I'm looking more for recommendations based on experience or someone here who will take a look for a low cost.

so go to Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, Walmart, wherever and buy a cheap ass tool set to open it up.
it shouldn't require anything fancy or overly special

I realize I could do that. I don't want to go buy tools right now unless it's something I really really need or will use regularly.
While I have some tools, I don't really have a need (outside of this) for mechanical tools. I don't have space to store shit which I will use once every few years. I have 3 other roommates and storage is tight as it is and my personal space is equivalent or less than that of an inmate (not exaggerating). I don't have space for anything that isn't going to be used regularly, including something as small as a basic socket set.
And more importantly I just don't really have the time right now to look at it, find any parts I would need, and fix it myself. I'm perfectly happy with paying to have someone else do this.
I should have left out the part about not having the tools... it really wasn't that relevant considering I don't really want to mess with it myself. 2/24/2008 1:37:23 PM |

This isn't that hard. For future reference, the question is:
Does anyone know, from experience, of a place in raleigh that will take a look at my washer for a fairly low cost and provide good service? If so, please let me know. (experience can be first hand or once removed, meaning a family member or friend has used them).
Thanks in advance to those who actually answer my question as well as those who refrain from comments similar to the one above.
While I understand (and appreciate) hondaguy's post, ^ either didn't read the entire original post or is a jackass.

without being a smartass, by the time you pay someone to look at it and fix it, you could probably buy another one. 2/24/2008 6:50:45 PM |
