i have deleted all the partitions and installed windows from my cd, but i keep geting to this screen that says:

Installing applications (surrounded by a flashing red box)
Do not press any keys while applications are installing/ please wait up to 30 minutes for the installation to complete...

ive waited 30 minutes before and it just keeps saying that...anyone had this trouble before?

What version of Windows are you trying to load? What brand of computer is it? Is it the recovery CD that came with the CD? Etc. give more info.

But that sounds like a Gateway disc IIRC

It's a dell, and its a recovery cd that came with it. What other info would help that i could give?

it doesnt freeze or anything....It says "please wait up to 30 minutes for installation to complete"

i have let it go for prolly 45 minutes twice, but nothing happens. it doesnt freeze up...it just keeps going.

I'd just leave it overnight first, if its still stuck then there's def a problem. I'm not familiar with dell's restore CD process but I'd try using a regular windows install CD and see if you can get through the install with that then install the applications yourself.

well...i pressed a key trying to see the box that was behind that window....and it logged off and what not and then restarted. Seems like everything is running fine. I installed the drivers, so if everything is working alright i'm gonna let it fly...

^Okay, I was gonna suggest Ctrl+Alt+Del and killing that window but if you don't notice any problems... should be okay. It was probably all that useless Dell crapware they put on every PC.
