I am glad we have a passionate fan base that goes ape shit anytime we are horrible at football and basket ball.

Lets turn up the heat so, in the off season, changes will be made to make Sidney's plan work.

Kinda like checks and balances.

And I guess this can be another thread to complain in general?

i am willing to write this year and even next year off as a learning environment for sid, honestly.

but he's got to learn. this team has to start getting better. w/ what we're losing and what we have coming in, i don't expect us to really do that well next year, but he has to pick it up coachingwise.

the two things that i'd like to see the most are as follows, in no particular order:
1. better offseason conditioning (you know who you are... mccauley and costner)
2. less babying of the players, more flipping shit when they aren't playing

Lets not forget that These players are all still Herb's recruits, minus a couple players. Javi, while not perfect is certainly making big improvements every time he plays, JJ is doing well, though he has short commings also, he's still a freshman. These older guys that were recruited for Herb's system are doing well playing in the new system, yes it's their second year and they show signs of being very very good, leading Duke at half time, leading UNC up until half time, continuing to play when down 27 to cut it to 12... etc. I think Coach Lowe will be just fine as soon as he gets players in that he recruits and is able to work with from the beginning.

i don't buy for one second the "not his recruits" thing. the reason is that they played fine in the system last year. they have digressed. you can't put that on anyone but the coach.

and you can't say "JJ is doing well, though he has short commings also, he's still a freshman" b/c that's all he's going to be. the fact that he's a freshman is no consolation b/c he won't be around for us to benefit from when he gets better.

I might...MIGHT...give you being up on Duke at halftime and playing well vs UNC for a half (actually, its really sad when you are taking "half victories" as positives for a team)...but to say that cutting a 27 pt lead to 12 against the worst team in the ACC as a moral victory is just plain RIDICULOUS. It goes to show you how far we have fallen as a team.

i used to go with the "they're not his recruits" thing until it became clear that we not only didn't improve over the course of the season, but we maybe even got worse. even if you're given a middle school girl's team, a good coach will have them playing better in march then in december.

although to be fair it's not march yet. so i'll wait until the acc tourney before i'm really

the way he's playing he'd be stupid to leave after this year. Whether or not I think he will is another question.

And last year, we had about 6 possibly 7 players playing all the minutes. It was much easier for them to get into a rhythm and score large amounts of points. I'm not making excuses for the way we're playing, I think we're stinking it up and capable of much more that we're showing.

I'm just saying there's alot more to it than coaching, or one player not playing as good as last year. Coach Lowe isn't out there shooting. Shooting 18% at part of a game is not his fault, turning the ball over 20+ times is not his fault. Can he coach and compensate for some of it? sure! Do the players run the play he calls and it leads to a turn over? Sure they do!

It's a complex issue, lets not blame anything on one person.... and no that hasn't been done yet, I just wanted to throw my opinions out there

Uh, like what? Unless you can develop a nice long range game and some point skills I don't think the fanbase can help much...

It's not like we want to run the guy off at this point. That is counterproductive unless you have absolutely no hope he can be as good as the last guy (I'll be honest, at this point, I don't know if you can speak those two coaches in the same sentence...)

You know, that is the same thing everyone says about every coach whose team isn't getting it done. We said it about Herb, Les and now Sid... at some point the bad play goes back to the coach...

^^ that's where you're wrong. the product on the floor is 100% the responsibility of the coach.

i will repeat once more, b/c i think it's very true, the 2009 recruiting class will make or break lowe's tenure here, as well as this program for the next 10 years.
