Trying to pick up a polisher to detail the car this weekend, figure it will get some further use as well but not enough to warrant spending $200 on one.

How about these? Anyone have any relative experience with what is really necessary in a polisher and why the big price differences?

Porter Cable 7424 is like the entry level random orbit everyone uses. It's not 200$. Probably ~100-150.

May as well get it.

^^But why the porter cable? Seems this one has similar power, adjustability and such. Is it mainly just the name your paying for as far as reliability?

You're paying a little more so the thing doesn't break halfway through your work.

Awesome. About how long would you say it took you to do your whole car?
