Obleas Goat Milk Candy by Las Sevillanas

The verdict - Very Good!

A trip down the Spanish food aisle at the local grocer turned up yet another worth while find. "Obleas Mini wafers with goat milk candy" made by Las Sevillanas. Basically Obleas boil down to a cookie/candy hybrid. They consist of a caramel layer sandwiched between two paper thin vanilla type wafers.

These candies were unbelievably good, not to mention incredibly addicting! The caramel was very light and creamy, and the wafers added some substance with a nice little crunch. The wafers also served as a nice barrier which seemed to keep a lot of the caramel from impacting between my teeth!

The goat milk comes into play with the caramel. A quick Google search for "Obleas" produced many Latin recipes, most of which used goats milk in part or in whole to make the caramel with. The whole "goat milk" aspect of this snack almost kept me from buying these, but I'm glad I went with my gut and tried them. I'm definitely be buying more Obleas in the future."

the "spanish" food at gas stations really weirds me out. like coconut covered banana creme filled cakes. and other odd things. and odd colors. sometimes the coconut is dyed pink.

oh, fear not. I did not get this at a gas station.

Earlier today, this gentleman:

asked me if I had ever been to Mexico?

I told him that I had been to Cancun, but I would really count that as Mexico (as I chuckled)

He then said that he just returned from Mexico, and then offered me these treats.
