My 1998 ford crown vic makes squeaky noises when it's on uneven pavement. Any ideas why it would do that? It's not a bouncy ride so I don't think the shocks are bad.

loose shock mounts, or maybe the spring buffer/cushion is finally worn through and the end of the coil is rubbing on the support?

Which end of the car? High-pitched squeak, more a groan/creak, or neither? Are you sure it's the suspension?

My 2003 Marauder (same platform as the CV) had a high-pitched squeak in the front end of the car that was driving me nuts for quite some time. I eventually figured out that it was one of the hood supports (the things in the front part of the engine bay that the hood rests on, not the ones in the back that raise it). Adjusted it to the proper height plus some lubrication; no more squeak.

If it's a groaning sound from the back of the car-- my parents have a '97 Crown Vic which makes that noise from the left rear. It's annoying, but they've had it looked at and been told nothing is wrong. It's been making the noise for 4 years now with no other discernible symptoms, so...

Best I can tell, it's coming from the front... I think I'll see if it's just the hood squeaking (can't do it until tomorrow though).

could be a lot of things. suspension bushings, shocks/struts, etc.

^^the aod's make a pretty distinct whining/whirring sound, especially in first gear. kinda like the gm 4l80e.
