ok recently, i dont know how but i picked up an advertising virus,
i removed it but i noticed somthing strange
when i search on google.com the first three listings are always advertisements
and the side ads are gone

so i opened firefox and searched the same thing and its not there, its the regular google search

so somehow this virus is in my IE and even if i type in google.com and it shows up as google.com

the searches are different, also when i click the links it sometimes goes to a redirect

Have you gone down the obvious paths?

-Install spybot, update it, and scan the computer
-Install addaware, update it, and scan the computer

i used MS defender, and avg, and adaware, also used hijackthis and deleted obviously fishy stuff
used cwshredder, so online spyware scanner, etc


i just thought maybe one of yall know how to clean it,

Probably won't like this, but everything I came across had a different virus that was causing it, so no simple solution. Here's one of them though:

Might help identify the particular virus if we knew where you were being redirected to.
