Ok so I'm pretty new to shopping/chopping/whatever you want to call it and I have a few questions about The Gimp photo editing software.

OS: Slackware
The Gimp version 2.2.11

1)
How do I move a text box once I've set my size/color? Normally you would just select the text box and drag it around. But that's not working. For instance. I want to make a text area but I want to adjust the font. When ever I change the font size it moves the text area and I can't get it lined up exactly where I want it. I just want to be able to make the box, fix the size and move the box around.

2) I have a background that looks like this


the entire background is the same pattern but slightly different shades of blue and green. When I go to paste this background into an area that is similar in this same color, you can see the lines of the square from my copy/paste.

How do I blend it in so the colors match the pattern but not see the paste box?

use of the clone stamp tool in photoshop...

basically you pick an area to like the left of the text then just start drawing over the text and it puts the right colors in.. pretty cool

I was trying to use the clone tool but I could only get it to clone from a pattern source.. Then I figured out how to activate the clone tool to use image source(ctrl)
