if you purchased a HDDVD player in the last 90 days @ Circuit City you can return it for a Blu-Ray player and just pay the difference or for in-store credit (as opposed to their regular 30 day return policy)

I wouldn't say that... I preferred the HDDVD over BR, just because I hate paying stupid high costs for the sony name. Competition keeps my costs down.

If there wasn't included license and creation tools built into Premiere CS3 and Encore CS3 I would never consider BR even for a player, I'm going straight digital.
