We had a lot better chance to finish 3rd in the ACC than the Bobcats had of winning the NBA championship. I understand your logic...but picking us 3rd in the ACC was not that big of a reach. Other than Duke and UNC...there was no clear-cut #3 team in the conference in the preseason. And we had shined at the end of the year and showed we had a lot of talent (and talent coming in with added depth).

Yeah, I guess in the realm of perception, we are. Journalists have to justify their preseason rankings, and labeling us as Bust of the Year does that. In no way were they wrong is the way they put it.

Earlier this year I had heard good things about Arizona and Illinois. Both of which are pretty down. Ohio State has been shittier than expected.

People only remember our ACC tourney run last year with Engin. They seem to forget that we got our asses handed to us in the second half of the ACC WITH Engin. The ACC tourney wasn't so much as playing with Atsur as it was Brandon Costner playing out of his fucking mind. I'm not saying Atsur didn't make us a better team...but it's not like it was night and day.

Pretty sure Illinois was suppose to suck...maybe not this bad, but I think it would have been a pleasant surprise for their program if they made the tourney this year.

Ohio State was suppose to be mediocre and probably make the tourney. They have been a slight disappointment.

Arizona was suppose to be slightly above average and now they are average. So not a huge disappointment there.

We were suppose to be good to above average. We are shitty and at the bottom of the conference. Therefore, we are the "bust of the year."

Wrong. Ranked #17 preseason, which is what we're basing shit on.

Maybe I heard Illinois and they were talking about another, but that team has really tanked beyond expectations. Given last year's results anyway. But I guess it doesn't do any good to base next year on last year. Especially is we're counting on one or two players being the difference, even if they were only real good maybe a quarter of the year.

^^And yeah, I know that. But I guess if we're going off stupid predictions, we can do what we want here. You can't make a bigger bust than us in that case. My whole argument is about how the preseason prediction was so off to begin with. I mean, if we're picked 7-9 in this league and we fall to 10-12 it's not that big of a deal given how strange the year has been anyway, league-wise. Who really thought Clemson would stay in the upper half all year?

Yeah...which is above average...maybe not slightly above average. And they still have a chance to make the tourney...so they are not a bigger bust than we are. Plus...Arizona being ranked 17th to me really puts them right around 22nd-25th because I think they get at least five spots for being Arizona.
