I'm guessing contract to hire means you aren't going to be getting all those nifty SAS benefits?

So, its like a big paid interview?

And 50-55k a year with having to travel 75% of the time is shitty for a recent CSC grad unless you do get phenomenal benefits.

or cosmic powers.

it also couldn't hurt to

A.) get a foot in the door at SAS should you wish to work there (doing something that didnt suck)
B.) be able to put SAS on a resume.

Actually, having SAS on a resume may not be the greatest thing. Most of their work is with proprietary stuff, so you won't necessarily develop a lot of useful skills that you can apply at another company.

When I was in the software engineering class at state we had a CEO of a local software company come in and talk. I don't remember how it came up, but he told us that he was hesitant to hire people from SAS for that very reason, and he had even worked there before.

Not that I'm knocking SAS or anything, because it is a good company to work for.

interesting

you would think it would bolster your credibility based on the fact that it's near impossible to get job in there.

i wonder if the proprietary thing is the trend of thought.

The only experience I've had with them is as a temp agency.

Seems like that's where it would start. and then the company's HR dept would make the decision on whether you're hired full-time.

I don't see why you would want manpower to handle permanent employees.
