I remember this stupid slutty bitch named ELISE who once told me for her birthday her mom was going to get her "fixed."
When I asked her what that meant, she said she is pregnent and her mom was goin to pay for her abortion.
I've always been against abortion when used as a form of birth control. 3/10/2008 10:42:55 AM |

Dude! Reality matches Fiction... There was this book years and years ago, written by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, called Inferno. It was a sci-fi book that was kind of an update on Dante's Inferno, and it tackled all the new ways that humans had figured out to sin. Polluting had it's own special section. So, I mean, how does this work, in the whole inner workings of Hell? Since the Vatican declared it, does the new section pop up in Hell? Has it been there all along, and we're just now finding out about it? If there's a new section, do people get moved around for polluting? Like, all those Native Americans that drove buffalo off of cliffs get moved from the "Worshipping non-Christian Gods" section of Hell to the brand-new "Fucking up the Earth" section? Christians, gimme the down-low on this! 3/10/2008 11:56:12 AM |

That's a pretty poor argument for "fucking up the earth". If anything Native Americans are the model for efficiency and sustainable living. Killing buffalo provided for food, cloths, tools, weapons, and shelter. What single thing do we use today that is like that? (And no, oil doesn't count because it is indirectly used for those things) Wastefulness in North America began as soon as the greedy white man stepped off of their boats.

Look, there are no different sections of hell. Dantes Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso are not gospel. All the denominational crap is horseshit in my opinion. Everything a Christian needs is in the New Testament. What is hell? It's eternal seperation from God and His love. That's it. I know from your posts that you're a Wicca, so I get you and Christianity probably don't get along. But please don't mock my faith. I'm not mocking yours.3/10/2008 9:34:35 PM |

first of all, you said there was a current mass extinction bigger than any other mass extinction before humans which is not true
and secondly, the virtual unanimity is a PREDICTION...the PREDICTION is that many species could die over the next 100 years if warming continues...if you could simply produce some type of data or evidence that shows this current mass extinction you'd have a lot better leg to stand on
iirc, a couple hundred species have become extinct over the last couple hundred years, and most of those were due to human destruction of habitat, ie deforestation, filling in wetlands, etc...a couple hundred of the tens of thousands of species on the planet...but not only have conservation efforts been greatly increased over the last 40 years, these extinctions are due to direct human destruction of habitat...most are not due to having too much CO2 in their atmosphere to breathe, or having temperatures too hot for them to survive
so like i said, this doomsday mass extinction you guys keep referring to is a prediction of a worst case scenario in the future] 3/11/2008 1:19:39 PM |

that goes along with my "a couple hundred species have gone extinct over the last couple hundred years"
and of the roughly 57,000 species in this graph about 5,000 are listed as threatened
threatened.......not endangered, but threatened.....threatened means that if conditions dont improve these species have the potential to become endangered and then extinct...but like i mentioned, conservation has gone up a lot in the last 40 years or so...in fact, you guys are quick to blame humans for causing all of these species to possibly go extinct in the future...how about giving humans credit for raising awareness since the 1970s of threatened and endangered species so we can preserve them...if not there would be more extinct species
but regardless, these extinction predictions are based on destroying habitat and resources through building and expanding civilization into the wilderness...they are not becoming threatened and in danger of extinction from higher temperatures or increased co2 or anything you can relate to climate change]3/11/2008 1:34:38 PM |
