There isn't a ton of individual talent on this team. Costner, Fells, Grant, and McCauley have all, at times put together decent games, but that doesn't mean they're really talented. Given enough games and enough playing time, everyone is going to have a few games where they put up 25 or so. JJ Hickson is the only person on the team that I would really describe as talented.

If I were NC State, I'd give Lowe one more year....

See, this is part of the problem. It's not about having players that are talented enough to play in the NBA. It's about having five guys on the floor and they make the sum larger the parts when they pool together as one team and score more points than the opposition. We'll never get players of Carolina's or Duke's caliber, cause if we did, they would have gone to Carolina or Duke. The only way we can win is to build a cohesive team where everyone knows their role and plays their role well.

There have been NC State teams that I've been disappointed in. There have been NC State teams that have frustrated me. There have been NC State teams that made me really angry. But I've never actively disliked an NC State team until this season. I fucking hated this team. I've been skipping classes since high school to watch NC State play in ACC/NCAA Tournament games. I didn't even consider it this year. I went to my class at 3:00.

We have players. Duke and UNC really only have 2 players each better than ours. Every team in the acc has talent to at least be decent. There is no excuse for this type of suckage. this team doesn't have great talent. great talent doesn't make those stupid turnovers that we've made throughout the entire season. great talent doesn't miss wide open shots. great talent is able to stay in front of their man on defense.

now with that said...we definitely don't have the worst talent in the league. we have average (for the acc), perhaps slightly above average talent, that sidney has taken and "coached" straight to the cellar.

the third place finish predictions definitely overestimated the talent on this team. but they also overestimated the coaching talent on this team.

They played like a bunch of little bitches today. I've always stuck by my Wolfpack, but there are no excuses here. Miami beat them to every loose ball. Coach Roy or Coach K would have had no problem benches these assholes today, I was hoping Lowe would. Maybe the scrubs would have actually cared and had some pride to have NC STATE on the front of the jersey

We are so bad on the offensive end of the court it is unbelievable.

To me the lack of improvement in the offensive system throughout the year was the most frustrating part. I mean, we started bad on offense and just never got better. Don't give me this " we don't have a PG!!! " shit. A lot of schools don't have great point guards, they are hard to come by. Those schools don't average 50 points a game like we do. We looked lost every time the ball crossed mid court. That my friends, is coaching.

Put in a system, convince the players to buy into it, work within that system, and adjust. That wasn't done once this year.

In his defense, Lowe pretty much did that. He sat Gavin almost all the second half, and Fells played only a few minutes in the second half. Instead he played Fergie and Horner...
