it's going on now through sunday at the fairgrounds. i checked it out today and must say it was actually better than the previous years. there was an assortment of lotus', the new lexus IS-F which i must say is fucking bad, an ariel atom, saleen s7, and the new 2500hd with the LMM duramax. i thought it was worth the 8 bucks. 3/14/2008 4:33:24 PM |

it's all inside except for the retired highway patrol cars that are on display just like they are at anything that happens at the fairgrounds. 3/14/2008 7:58:16 PM |

If anybody's wondering, and if it's anything like last year, the highway patrol guys aren't handing out anything cool. It's just a condescending buckle up when you drive, or don't drink and drive, or drive safe, or something or the other pamphlet. I understand why they hand those out, but couldn't they hand out something like "serving north carolina and keeping our highways safe, a history of the highway patrol, and ways you can help!" sort of thing. I dunno, I just don't get why everything they want to hand out to you seems like an asshole wrote it.
And yeah, I might consider going. Was there a VW section on display there? I wanted to see the new Jetta Sportwagen. 3/14/2008 8:59:52 PM |

^i don't know. i'm sure there is but i didn't look for any volkswagens. in fact, there must be because i did notice a group of hippies and liberals so i avoided that area. 3/15/2008 1:17:37 PM |

z06, sky turbo, atom, s7, mx5 and lotii were awesome. I was unimpressed by the american cars in general which is really too bad - lots of the panels didn't fit well, they were made out of cheap plastic, and the interiors were uninspiring (challenger included). The new STI is disgusting, the rx8 feels crappy. In short, most new cars suck. The envoy hybrid didn't even list fuel mileage it just said 25% better than normal. The hummers of course also didn't list mpg (i assume it's because GM is too embarrassed) and the back seat of the aveo didn't even fit back into place after it folded down. The design on some of these things sucks ass, shit doesn't fit together and has fake vents thrown all over it. It's all form (that doesn't even look good) over function. Even the saleen mustangs felt cheap and plasticy.

vehicles with a gvwr over a certain amount (8000 lbs I think) are not tested by the EPA for fuel economy purposes... hence why they aren't listed. 3/15/2008 5:18:53 PM |
