Somebody posted a link to an entry from the blog - read through some of it. And some of you women wonder why TWW is sexist.

"If you’re thinking you’re gonna take me to school in the comments section about how “sex work” is noble and should be a legal, legitimate profession, la la la, read this first: at issue is not the objective act of boinking. Until you factor in patriarchy and its wacko concepts of property and gender, sex is just a thing, like eating a couple of Cheez-Its, or going to the movies. But in a patriarchy, all women belong to the sex class, and are defined in terms of men. Men, on the other hand, belong to the default human class, and get to define themselves (and everything else). In a heterosexual boinking situation, the power differential inherent in the relationship between fucker and fuckee absolutely precludes the possibility of any woman participating with full agency in prostitution."
I remember talking to a guy once who said that every women covets being objectified when having sex. Particularly minimized and dominated.

I thought he was wrong.

And then I had sex for the first time.

I liked what you had before the edit:

Quote :
"Actually, TWW guys aren't really sexist, they put on that act just the same as feminists. But everybody drops the act in the sack. "

I mean, I won't deny that men have treated women like crap in the past. But goddammit give us a chance to improve on that record. When she talked about her dad dying in a recent post she says:

"My father died last week. He was pretty decent, for a dude. The official memorial service is today. When I get back from this thing — or rather, series of things, because apparently when people’s fathers die they have to relocate to Dallas and host catered affairs and entertain masses of out-of-towners and drop-in condolers and fidget through a ceaseless string of sentimental tributes to the departed patriarch — I will regale you with my caustic impressions of American funeral culture. But until then I can be seen lurching around the Metroplex between these assorted functions, wearing a gender-specific girl-suit and crippling girl-shoes, picked out for me by my mother, to whom I could not, for once, say no."

I mean, she doesn't make much of a difference between him and other men. Which is sad, considering he was an activist in the state of Texas for women, especially in education.

Yeah, that piece of shit definately should not set an example for women either, btw.

We see someone eccentric or extreme and they're harder to forget than the normal folks, and sometimes we associate the normal ones with the extreme ones. So it goes either way, guys get sexist because they think we're a bunch of "Twisty Faster"s and women think men are a bunch of misogynist pigs after they happen to meet just one in the bunch.

I mean, I met one. Hell, I banged one. But I didn't let him ruin my outlook on dudes, and they should not be convinced women are all the same either. Twisty Faster would like all women to take after her views obviously, whereas Sabir didn't give a shit what other men thought about him as long as he got him some pussy, but in the end we all want someone we can live with and will end up settling for someone who doesn't mind our genitalia.

so you're saying that Tdub's sexism is a REACTION to this woman's feminism

and not, perhaps, the other way around?

I think people like her are so extreme because dickholes like you wander about spouting off stupid shit all of the time without considering the implications of your thoughts, words and actions

Bitch please. I'm not saying its a reaction to this woman. Hell no. It's a reaction to the world created by our predecessors. Like take my family for instance. My parents didn't raise me to be a misogynist pig, or my sisters to be man-haters. Yet for some reason, my sisters have on many occasions belittle for what they perceived to be an attack by me on their womanhood. They obviously had to learn that kind of thinking somewhere.

Excuse me? I'm about to commission as a US Navy officer. Don't tell me I don't know anything about responsibilities and consequences. In a couple months, I'll be responsible for the welfare and LIVES of 20 young sailors. I'll be damned if I haven't been preparing myself for this task during my college career. I don't spout out stupid shit. I spout what I believe, and I stand by it, and I stand by how I came to believe in it.

no, I'm 20.
but it's not human to be able to consider everything. But I'm leaps and bounds ahead of most 20 year olds.

oh, and forthcoming? I've already been in the Navy for almost 4 years, so, I've had some time to learn how to make hard decisions, stand by what I've said, take the consequences of my actions, etc.

I'm a non-denominational Christian, sawahash. My mouth is a product of my environment. I am trying to work on it. But, when I go before God on Judgement Day, I know I'm saved and I'll stand by my actions and words, so I'm not too too worried about it.

I grew up Catholic... man what a nightmare that was
I believed in it for a long time with quite a bit of vigor
but then I started asking questions and nobody had any answers - the priest didn't even reprimand me for my lack of faith... though I did get like 10 Our Father's and half a dozen Hail Mary's
he just dismissed me by saying that I was "too young" to worry about stuff like that

so you won't take responsiblity for the fact that you're the one throwing around that language and you blame it on your enviornment?
So back when you gave me a hard time about drinking (which isn't a sin) I guess I can blame it on my environment and say that I'm working on changing that as I have a beer in my hand? It will make it all better?

oh, I should have been a little more clear. It's how you react to your environment that makes you who you are too. So I do take responsibility for my tongue

So I'm guessing now you realize that drinking isn't as bad as you thought it was back then?

there was way too much for me to read on this page. although if i skimmed correctly i did find one phrase i'd like to throw into rotation

"heterosexual boinking situation"

it sort of blows my mind. maybe i'll stick it into the 20 page paper i'm writing JUST to see if anyone notices.

I love how everyone had a not optimal experience with the Catholic church and somehow that means that they now shouldn't give Christianity a chance.

I didn't read much, but twisty may not be a radical feminist, but rather a feminazi -- a man-hater

I fully support "radical feminism", that is, I oppose standard gender roles and male oppression of women

and I agree with focusing on patriarchy itself, at the root, rather than just the legal or social manifestations

but combating patriarchy and misogyny by supporting matriarchy and misandry

is like fucking for virginity

Quote :

sorry twisty, but statements like this strip you of credibility and make you no better than those you oppose

you fucking sexist

People who speak out against oppression don't have to be polite or even fair.

And do you not see the humor in the quoted bit about her father? Read the link. If necessary, read the Wiki article on understatement.

There's a difference between righteous indignation and vehement self-victimization and unopenness to any other views.

e.g. MLK vs. Black Panthers.
