^^^I am going to go out on a limb here and say you don't sound like you have a Class III. Personally, it sounds like you are a moron. If you live in Wake county, you can't have one...the sheriff won't sign. If you are looking for a Class III item on a fourm, you are just looking for jail time. No one here can even sell you one. i can't help but ask, where did you get your Class III? What reason did you give to get your permit? and my final question, what county are you in?

I have looked in to the Class III permits in great detail. And I can promise you that if you had a permit, you wouldn't be looking here for any help.

the best way to go in most parts of nc is to set up a trust and go through it at a federal level with BATF

if this retard had gone through that amount of work he wouldnt be posting on here asking where to buy one

Pardon me folks, but there is no such thing as a "Class III Permit" in the sense that is being discussed here.
NFA title 2 weapons (machine guns, sound suppressors, SBRs, etc) require NO LICENSE OR PERMIT to own. All that is required is a $200 tax stamp, fingerprints, an FBI background check, and the signature of your local CLEO.

The only licensing is for dealers and manufacturers of such (and some other) items. There is no such thing as a "Class III weapon", there is only such thing as a "Class III dealer".

To the thread starter: if you are asking TWW for help in this arena, you obviously don't hold an FFL of any kind and should probably seek advice somewhere else.

If you have a signed permit/tax stamp...good for you and you probably don't live here in NC. If you went the Trust/LLC way, you had to list a reason to get the weapon...thats why I asked.

I've asked the guys at PDHSC about setting up a corporation to get one (a suppressor) and they said you still have to get the CLEO to sign. I'm not sure about that from what I've been reading. Does anyone know any better?

Also, any lawyers in the house? If you take a look at http://www.ncleg.net/EnactedLegislation/Statutes/HTML/BySection/Chapter_14/GS_14-288.8.html, it mentions 'collectors of firearms' under (b).(2) as an exclusion to 14-288.8. Do you think that would apply to a type 3 FFL even though it's for curios? I mean, technically, what is a 'collector of firearms'?

My post elaborated on the requirements placed upon us ordinary serfs who might want an NFA-regulated weapon. Actually getting things like a CLEO signature in these parts is another matter alltogether.

The only people I know who have done this have switched addresses to a county where the Sherriff will sign without hassle, or they happen to know some goddamned politician here in Wake county who can pull some strings for them.
And don't get me started on how Donnie Harrison lied during his first run for office about how he would sign, then reneged on it once he was firmly seated in power.

I would already have a couple of supressors if it wasn't such a pain in the fucking ass to get one.

You can claim collection as a reason to own. Sampson and Wayne I know will allow Class III you just have to stop in and be friendly with the sherriff and of course pass the back ground checks and go through the other hoops everyone has already talked about. There is a guy in Durham I have met who manufactures suppressor's if anyone is interested and is is legit.
