I wish I could concealed carry, but working at a school system kinda makes it impossible. Hell I can't even legally have any of my guns IN my vehicle if I park on campus. How ghey. If somebody is licensed and trained to carry concealed, I believe that they should be allowed to. I would be glad to register with the school police officer and do whatever seperate training/testing they deemed necessary. But until then, a concealed permit is kinda pointless for me. 3/17/2008 9:04:51 PM |

So an 18 year old can join the military and learn how to operate complicated weapons....
...but a 21 year old cannot be trusted to take a cc class and carry a handgun on campus?
crazy. 3/17/2008 9:15:17 PM |

Kinda unrelated but was just wandering how yall stored your guns while you were at school. Im not trying to buy any kind of safe (although i guess the smaller ones may work for a pistol) but also dont want to leave it laying around. Im also not really big on trigger locks. 3/17/2008 9:16:16 PM |

why arent you big on trigger locks?
they should be locked away at all times when you arent with them.
you can get free locks from the sherrifs office downtown(not the trigger lock, but the long ones).
i keep a trigger lock on mine and have it in a gun case. the case isnt locked, although when i have family over it is.

I think the idea is more that the 21 year old's crazy roommate who knows about the gun may get ahold of it, rather than the 21 year old himself going nuts with it.3/17/2008 9:21:39 PM |

I haven't read the website for this, but how exactly is this going to help their cause? How is this protest going to reach administrators/lawmakers who would be the ones making the decision on this? 3/17/2008 9:28:06 PM |

yeah mine are currently in a safe at home. That is my preference too. I just dont have the money or room in my crummy apartment for a safe so i didnt know if yall just used trigger locks or what. I guess im not big on trigger locks because Ive never really used them before and it doesnt really keep a gun from being stolen when you are not at home. 3/17/2008 9:33:07 PM |

yeah thats true. i dont know the effectiveness of a trigger lock in terms of trying to be pried off. 3/17/2008 9:35:40 PM |

Oh boy! We're playing "What If"
OK...What if you're at the campus library, and a alienated loon busts in and starts spraying bullets at your fellow students...you place a 2 shot tap into him..and the spree is over.
Your turn.3/17/2008 9:52:46 PM |

You miss your shot and the alienated loon splatters your brain all over your study-mate with his CCW permitted gun. 3/17/2008 9:57:10 PM |

Then a sniper on a bookshelf who's been camping like a tool all day takes out the crazed shooter.
Fucking campers.
The tv news would salivate...

I would participate in this type of protest. Right now seems like particularly bad timing, though. 3/17/2008 11:24:32 PM |

Really.
I hate guns.
I truly would feel more secure in a society where everyone had one on them at all times.

Remember kids. Only law-abiding citizens who get CCW's go on shooting sprees. I mean, after all, they follow all the laws. durr 3/19/2008 1:15:26 AM |
