This truck is in immaculate condition. It has been well taken care of and all maintenance and gas records documented. All maintenance performed personally, when possible. I prefer to sell to someone who appreciates the maintenance records and work in keeping this vehicle like-new. It is worth much more than the asking price, which is set slightly above Kelly Blue Book value. Please see website for all details. Contact me by cell phone or e-mail--I will not respond to posts via the Wolf Web.

^^ To be fair, it doesn't get bad mileage for a little pickup truck.
I mean, if you need/want to drive a pickup, that one isn't bad to go with.
Sketch price tho. 3/18/2008 6:09:09 PM |

got to admit, it truly is in ridiculously good condition. But unfortunately no one cares if the interior of a 92 pickup is in good condition or not.

^ Did you actually look at the truck? The first thing I thought when I read the title was also, "92 truck with 203k miles for $4000? WTF is this dude smoking?" But this seems like a quality vehicle. He didn't lie about anything from the looks of it, so I doubt he's lying about the Blue Book price (I don't feel like checking). It's fairly obvious that he's kept it in incredible working order and vehicles made by Japanese car companies from the late 80s/early 90s are famous for running forever if you take care of them properly, which this guy has. Plus it comes with a sound system that's probably worth a little bit. The only thing wrong seems to be the transmission and I don't know anything about that so I can't comment. But other than that the truck seems pretty perfect. I would definitely inspect the hell out of it if I was considering buying it, but I'm not so it's a moot point.
My point seems to reinforced because morons like you can't read past the title of a thread before you start being an ass. Put this on autotrader or cars.com or something and it has a chance to sell. I didn't say it definitely would and this dude probably won't get $4k for it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for a little less than that to someone that is really interested.... aka not TWW.

What's wrong with the original seat surface? Why no pictures without the seat covers? When was the truck repainted? The transmission problem is going to be fairly expensive.

Are you high? Aftermarket stereos don't add anything to a vehicles value. They are worth something if sold separately.3/19/2008 8:23:48 AM |

ok first off who sets the price ABOVE Kelly Blue Book? KBB is already inflated. who's gonna pay something above the inflated book price? i wonder how much higher its priced than the actual list value (nada).
and i kind of have a rule: i don't buy vehicles which have transmission problems, minor or not. i guess if you know how to work on them then its not a big deal...but it is for me.] 3/19/2008 8:31:47 AM |

the KBB on this shit is like 3k if its in GOOD condition, however this truck has transmission issues, hence not good condition 3/19/2008 12:12:42 PM |

Korey I feel your pain. We sold our 2005 Altima last year and it was in immaculate condition. Not a single door ding or a spec of dirt on the inside. Okay so it was a 2005, but I've seem many other newer cars that are trashed. Basically nobody gives a shit how clean you keep it they will not even pay KBB for it. Everyone wants a deal unless the car is in high high demand you'll have to drop the price. 3/19/2008 11:21:25 PM |

Hello all. It was entertaining reading these posts. Apparently people except for some like "IMStoned420" or "cornbread" don't know much about these trucks and have no qualifications for making judgments--but I expected that really. I have had people ask to buy it randomly for the past several years when I had no intention of selling it--mainly older guys who know these trucks. With 200k, it will still last longer than a Chevy S10 or a Ford Ranger with 50k miles. Now I expect replies about that, but I don't care really.
For those of you wondering about the transmission, about once every 100 times you put it into drive, it's actually in second gear. If you press harder on the pedal or just drop it into L and back into D, she's good to go. I'm just the kind of person that likes to tell you every single thing I know about my vehicle. Most people would never notice this problem and I probably shouldn't have mentioned it, but I'm not like that.
I was just bored, that's why this is on TWW. I really have no intention of selling it to anyone with the maturity level of most of the repliers. I have it posted on Craigslist and other places and am getting more calls than I can really deal with. And for those of you who've never sold anything, $4k is a starting price. However, from the looks of it I may very well sell it for that. Thank you to the critics. 3/22/2008 12:58:11 PM |

i wasn't going to reply, but since you're trying to pull the wool over the eyes of someone who doesn't know any better i feel the need.

HAHAHA. i count at least 3 people in this thread that are more than qualified on all things toyota truck.
i love how people post ads here but then they're always like "i didn't plan to sell it here, i was just bored". yeah, right. the truth is you know full well how price savy or cheap most people are here, but you also know there's always that small chance of a sucker in every crowd.
your price is ridiculous, but it's your truck. it's also open to review since you posted it here. bottom line, everything else aside this truck has transmission problems. you aren't a saint for disclosing it, it's simply the right thing to do. i'm sure someone wouldn't notice it the first time they try to pull out into traffic and it's in the wrong gear. since you're the obvious toyota master tech, why don't you tell us all why this transmission is just as mechanically sound as any others? why hasn't it been damaged starting out in second gear?
craigslist is a great site, but as you'll probably soon learn it's full of tire kickers. you'd probably get the same amount of "interest" asking $10k for it. if you're getting SO many calls, why haven't you sold it yet? oh, that's right... you're screening buyers for their maturity level! fuck off asshat, the only immature person here is the guy trying to scam someone into paying twice the value of his vehicle.
good luck, be sure to let us know when it's still for sale a year from now or you've given in to taking half of your asking price.3/22/2008 3:27:47 PM |

KBB is high as hell. we've been over that. nada is a more realistic valuation (minus the tranny issue of course)

the chevy probably, but i'm not so sure about the ranger. those things can last forever (though obviously not as often as a toyota). but this argument is pretty much null given the tranny issues3/22/2008 9:02:55 PM |

^can't we just lock threads like this? they're obvious a ploy to pass off an ailing vehicle to someone else by masking it with clean paint and interior. besides, according to him doesn't intend to sell it to anyone here, and only posted out of boredom.
i'm not saying lock all threads where the price might become a pissing match, just the ones where it's painfully obvious the owner is trying to rip someone off.
also, there's no reason a ranger shouldn't go as long as a toyota since many have a MAZDA drivetrain. not much tech difference there being jap! or hell, even the s10. you don't see 8 million of them still on the road for nothing. i mean, the iron duke 4? come on, legendary motor of strength. 2.8 was junk. 4.3 isn't.

i mean, i'm all about fishing for a sweet price when trying to sell a car--i've flipped several cars for a profit (and have probably am at a net gain on buying/selling cars over the last 5 years)
but there's fishing for a sweet price, and then there's being COMPLETELY not grounded in reality
and nice try at acting like the resident expert on toyota trucks. there are people in this thread who've forgotten more about them than you'll ever know. 3/23/2008 2:07:06 AM |

my whole problem is the dishonesty. he's playing off the transmission problems as nothing, when that's not the case. if people were fully aware of its condition and what the future could bring and he still asked the same price, fine.
let me say one more time that it's not as simple as pushing the gas or fiddling with the gear selector. there are bad things going on inside the transmission when that happens and you drive. not to mention there is something gone bad anyway, likely electrically related. solenoid in the vb, etc. 3/23/2008 3:05:18 AM |
