NC State’s annual Red & White Spring Game is slated for April 19 at Carter-Finley Stadium. Kickoff time has not yet been set for the afternoon contest.

The game, which will be broadcast live to PACK PASS subscribers on GoPack.com, will be the final event in the Wolfpack’s spring practice, which begins on March 18.

Wolfpack coach Tom O’Brien will again host a reunion of former NC State football players the day before the spring game. Former players are invited to attend Friday’s final spring practice and stay for a reception and social at Vaughn Towers later that evening.

“We were overwhelmed with last year’s response, with more than 300 former football players who attended,” said second-year coach Tom O’Brien. “It means a lot to our current players to be able to connect with the history of NC State football and we hope it means a lot to our former players to connect with our current program.

he already showed what he could do when someone could get him the ball (ex. UVA game). so hopefully this year we can have someone that can put the ball on the money. he's a type of receiver that can go up and get it too if u put it in the area. i like him a lot.

Needs some more red trim, but not bad.

I've seen pics of Russell Wilson at Spring practice, which is definitely a good thing. He definitely has as good a shot as anybody of starting at QB next year, and while I've only seen a highlight video of his Junior year in high school, the guy looks flat-out amazing.

Question though: Is he abandoning baseball till mid-April, doing both, or what?

Well he hit the walk-off home run in Sunday's game against Miami so hopefully not leaving baseball.

Could be wrong but I seem to remember one of the things that came as a result of last season's practices/red & white game were a lot of interceptions... and there was debate as to whether this was a result of the new defensive scheme TOB was running or just attributable to a crappy QB. Guess our turnover margin last year set that record straight.

I'm more interested in how many turnovers there are during these practices than any other stat.

I have no inside info, but according to the scrimmage stats, Wilson is looking pretty damn good.

The defense picked off several passes, but they didn't list INTs on the QB's stat sheet. Judging by the stats, I'm thinking Burke threw a good number of them.

Judging by last season, I'm thinking Beck threw at least one. Gopack didn't list the most important stat (INTs). I was hoping for some info that I couldn't get off of the gopack article.

He might not be a "scrambling QB" but the guy has some serious wheels, his highlight video proves that. The encouraging thing is that he only seems to use his speed as a last resort.

I think a lot of the highly touted scrambling QB's nowadays (X. Lee, Ronald Curry, Tyrod Taylor) seem to be great scramblers with giant arms, with absolutely no clue how to manage an offense. Wilson, at least from the little I've seen, is quite the opposite

Here's his HS combine numbers:

40-Yard Dash: 4.69
Short Shuttle: 4.28

So yeah, he doesn't appear to be a burner, but has enough speed to make a little something happen if the play breaks down. The Short Shuttle time is impressive, and should be extremely helpful when the pocket starts collapsing.
