so I got drunk yesterday and my car was still at ruckus this morning.

I was late for work and I go out to my jeep which had been parked on Kaplan for the past two weeks. It wont fucking start. I try like ten times and it dont even sputter. Tonight I got home from work and went to get it going and since the gas gauge is kind of fickle decided to put some gas in.

I flip the license plate down and am like WTF, the gas cap is gone. Motherfuckers drained my gas tank and even threw the cap in the storm drain or some shit.

So I get a gas can, buy gas, put some in, drive to the gas station, fill up, then go to advance auto for another gas cap. I was telling the manager what happened when he rung me out and he was like "Yeah I have been selling a lot of siphon pumps, you live near here?".

Last I remember I had just under half a tank which would be like $23.00 of gas.

mine kinda locks, at least it only opens from the inside. if someone wants in there, theyd have to break the cover off. so hopefully thats enough to make em move on to the next car

but gas is expensive as fuck, my last fillup was about 70 bucks. of course i happened to fill up on the one day that plus was 3.49 a gallon then it went down 20 cents the next day or 2

"how does that work?"
it just has a key on the middle of the knob part.. without the key in there the knob will just spin around and never actually unscrew the lid

what do you mean? you just:

1. remove from package.
2. insert
3. turn till it clicks
4. turn key to lock
5. remove.

what's hard about it?

oh ok, I get it now. it just uses the key to be able to twist off. I thought it might replace the receive as well.

I was thinking that it might having something like locking arms that extend out into the receiver that block it's motoin

uh, what? who would buy that, b/c any added crap is more likely to be confusing and break or get lost.

OFF TOPIC:

whatever happened to those caps where you just inserted the nozzle? no foreplay or anything, i.e. sorority girls.

nah thatd be a little too complicated. although i have to admit i've gotten one of these off before without the key by pushing down on it really hard and twisting.. it wasn't very tight though to begin with which was part of the problem

My Land Rover has a key gas tank door, I always thought it was stupid and a pain in the ass until this happened. If somebody stole all the gas out of that motherfucker I would be out $70

also, this is a good test.

take a flat head screw driver and insert into the lock of your filler door.

turn, not enough to damage it if it doesn't give, but enough to know that it works.

most cars that i have owned, the locks were just decoration, and that anything would open them.

they would be so simple that the simple act of inserting something remotely similar worked.

Yeah, good point.

The inconvenience of a small gas tank is better than risking a one in a million chance of being the victim of gasoline pirates.

you should buy a hard to break into gas cap with lock on it. Then when someone you hate really pisses you off, replace their gas cap with that one. Next time they get low on gas they'll be fucked! (or at least severely pissed off)
