I canvassed my entire fucking apartment complex and much of D. H. Hill this weekend to recruit new soldiers from myriad wireless access points. While I got a number of S-class medics, I crave high-SNS spies, S-class engineers, deliverymen, rescuers, and other soldiers armed with exotic weaponry. Anyone care to link up?

Yeah, although you look super lame doing it. You walk around until you get a reasonably strong signal, then you have to tap Circle like a madman until the signal is boosted above threshold. I think the soldiers' stats are determined (or at least influenced) by the MAC address of the router/AP.

You can also capture enemies in-game and, of course, trade with other people. When the GPS receiver for the PSP comes out over here, you'll be able to make use of the option to recruit with it, so you'll have to walk to a given set of coordinates, etc. Pretty neat. I might wind up getting more exercise playing my PSP than I have playing my Wii.

I have Portable Ops, but haven't started playing it. Sounds pretty sweet, looking forward to getting it started.
