damn, nice catch by ellsbury. that might of just locked up the CF spot for the Sox and made Coco pack his bags for... Oakland?

Or it might of put Ellsbury on the DL.

Would be sweet to add one more here in the 8th but hopefully Huston is on top of his game in the 9th.

Almost gave Papelbon the L.

Way to give it away Oakland. Growing pains are going to be hard this year -- but wait, that was a vet who screwed up on the base path. Damnit Emil.

0-1... Harden vs Lester tomorrow.

Embree looked pretty good last year when Street was injured...I figured they were going to trade Street but we're talking about the same franchise who sold out their playoff games 2 years ago but didn't open up upper deck seats for sale even though they obviously would've made money

i really hope oakland finds a way to bring in coco crisp. mlbtraderumors.com talks about the tigers wanting oakland, but i don't think the tigers have anything to offer.

hopefully one of our farm system guys gets groomed mighty quick to fill the closer role. street has really struggled. joey devine is down there...

don't get your hopes up -but then again this team has surprised after Beane's fire sales every time....

Seems to me that Beane is beefing up the farm system so that the A's will be decent/good team by the time they get into the new stadium in Fremont... That requires sacrifice for a few years.

Emil Brown with a 3 run jack in the 3rd. Talk about redeeming yourself.

4-0 A's in the 3rd.

well damn... just win I was going to hype up Harden, Manny goes and hits a bomb.

Harden still looking good. 3 hits and 1 run given up to the Sox after 6.

4-1 A's heading to the Bottom half of the 6th. Need to tack on some more before we give way to our bullpen.

I'd say that 5-1 for an A's game is a blowout... good call!

I did draft Rich Harden in the 2nd to last round in fantasy
But, usually Rich Harden puts up 10-12 great games and then gets hurt somehow
When he is on.... he is one of the most dangerous pitchers in the game...

Could Rich Harden become the next Dan Haren for us?!?

Did the As and Royals pull a trade off this off season? I don't remember one, but with Sweeney and Emil Brown on the A's, I was wondering if they actually signed both of those guys as FAs.

For some reason, I believe they both signed with the A's as FA's at different times during the off-season. Brown was first and Sweeney was later... I think.

Harden is bigtime when he's on. He got tired today and it showed when he started leaving the ball up (Manny's HR, Lowell almost went back-to-back). Seems like he rushed through spring training and hopefully that won't hurt down the road.

I like the potential in this team a lot. If Buck continues to shit on himself then I could see Carlos Gonzalez getting the call real soon.

Casilla is going to be good out of the pen as well.

cleveland is a great club this year and C.C. is their best pitcher.

If this A's club featuring mostly unheard of beanie babies can show their potential like this so early,
then I am very about that....

Now... don't jump to conclusions.... thats the toughest part but every A's fan is like an NCSU fan already.... much the same ebb and flow to success I'm afriad...

They wore them yesterday as well, Sabathia should just forfeit against Oakland, especially in Oakland. I mentioned this a few days ago, but the team ERA is going to be top 3 in the AL but the young bats are going to have to come alive to win the west.

man, the Angels are beastly this year. Not like they havent been for awhile now though...
Seattle is looking better, but I am not buying them until they show consistency.
But I am convinced that Ron Washington is still working for Beane in Texas

If we win the AL West this year, I will fuc|<in fly out to Cali for some playoffs.
This young team will likely cave under pressure if they are unexpectedly successful.
But we do have the best GM in baseball running the club through a puppet manager.

a sweep of cleveland would of been sweet but 2/3 vs that crowd ain't bad at all.

road trip comin' up, day off tomorrow and then 8 road games in 8 days...lets see how the young guys react.

@ TOR, @ CLE, @ CWS then home to face those damn Mariners...

where the hell did these bats come from?

Put 5 up on Burnett in the 2nd.

Even Buck had a RBI double... And Ellis had a triple.

6-3 A's over the Jay's... Bottom 2nd.

Keep it up

Tough seeing Big Hurt on Canadia, eh? He blasted that one in the 8th made me go

Gaudin not looking too great thus far, but I think he was rushed off of the DL...

hopefuly Gaudin pitching yesterday does not mean anything of Harden getting is start pushed back to today.

well shit... looks like it's true. http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080408&content_id=2505310&vkey=news_oak&fext=.jsp&c_id=oak

without Harden and Chavez, .500 is about all we can ask for, especially with the best pitcher and best fielder/leader on the shelf...tread water until they get back. Oh yea, Duke on the DL too, terrific....

well we've played pretty solid after 3 series' against pretty tough opponents. can't ask for much more at this point. taking 2/3 this weekend in cleveland would be huge.

really hope we can trade harden for some more young talent. harden's a stud but he ain't no good on the shelf. hopefully chavez either comes back healthy or retires an A.

amen, bro. The best part about it is that our best players arent even the ones getting it done.

this is how is is going to have to happen if it is going to happen >
unknown guys stepping up out of nowhere to become leaders so we have a solid base that takes the edge off of the skilled players when they are returning from the DL...

In Beane we trust!
