So the liberal outrage is manifested by wanting to get the soldiers out of the war while the the outrage displayed by the right is to leave them there for 100 years if need be. Yeah... that makes total sense.
Dude, I haven't lived in mommy and daddy's fantasy world since 7th grade but yeah keep going where you're with that...

getting rid of a dictator that killed hundreds of thousands close to millions of his own people, a man that invaded Kuwait, wanted to destroy our ally Israel, providing democracy and freedom to a whole country...is that not enough or do you want more. You would rather have obama as president who wants to go to countries like Iran who is providing weapons that are killing our troops and give them hugs and talk to them and ask them nicely to stop their hateful regime. And give hugs to Syria who is funding Hezbollah to attack Israel with rockets and providing weapons to terrorists in Iraq. 3/25/2008 6:36:17 PM |

^^^ oh sure. i love it when you war hawks all of a sudden turn into humanitarians - "OH MY GOD, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" Do you remember why we supposedly went into this war? Was it because Saddam was a brutal dictator who killed his own people? Umm, no.... he has been a brutal dictator for 40 years and we never went after him, instead often allying with him, then after Iraq War I our infinitely wise Secretary of Defense correctly reasoned that entering Baghdad and removing Saddam would turn Iraq into a quagmire (what what that guys name.....? something Cheney, perhaps?). Is that why we went in? No - we went in on the trumped up premise that Saddam posed a clear and present danger to us - the US. But guess what - he didn't.
Therefore, the entire rational and justification for the war was flushed down the drain, so you had to think of another reason - oh right, we've always wanted to save the people of Iraq! That's why we went in to begin with, don't you remember? They were suffering so badly and it just breaks my little heart that these Muslims I've never met are living in a dictator for the past 40 years and we've never done anything about it except sell the dictator weapons and kick him out of a different country, and forget that there are dozens of other countries in the world who have dictators actively killing their own people (which it's not clear that Saddam has done in many years, at least since we left the Kurds fending for themselves after the first war) - we have to act now!! We'll be greeted at liberators! We'll be gone in 6 weeks, 6 months at most! Iraq will return to the Garden of Eden after we leave and everybody will love each other again!
Fine - let's buy that. It's worth it because we "liberated" a country, and the people are now "free". We lost 4000 and counting Americans in doing so, and Americans will be paying out the ass for it for generations to come. Let's say it was all worth it. Shouldn't you be clamoring to go into Sudan now? And North Korea? What about Saudi Arabia and China, who despite being some of our best trading partners are some of the most repressive countries in the world? Do you want to just want to invade all these countries, accept 5000 dead Americans and 100,000 wounded and $3-5 trillion each on credit as the cost of liberation, and call it a day? Or don't you care about those people too?

we should do something about those countries...your letting your wallet speak with comments like they are big trading partners so we shouldn't do anything rather than speaking with your heart and doing what is right and stopping these communist red countries from oppressing their people and the world, they only reason China is produces so much is cause they pay their people nothing and they have no rights. i think we could add Saudi Arabia, Syria, Lebannon, Oman, Iran, Egypt, etc to this list as well
most of those would also fit into the human rights aggressions also. Honestly i don't give a fuck if iraqi's are being oppressed by Saddam. That is Iraq's problem. When we decided that we were tired of England's bullshit in the 1770's we took care of our own deal. We didn't sit around in oppression hoping one day Spain would invade and liberate us from the tea taxes!!

This is a common point of view among the fringe-left that bothers me, and its presumptuous and disrespectful to make the soldiers out like you are.
You speak of the soldiers like theyre all mindless slaves sent into battle against their will.
Theyre all people who volunteered to join the military. If you asked them whether they want to be in Iraq, most of them say they do. Some of them even joined the military to fight in Afghanistan and Iraq. They enjoy their job. They are proud of what they do.

Not trying to be insensitive, but I believe they did the right thing. Whether the war was justified or not doesn't matter. No need to make a mockery of them by making a mosiac of Bush/Cheney. I think if I was a father to one of these guys, I wouldn't appreciate my son's face being turned into a political statement.

you see no evidence to the contrary, so you assume the claim (that we're better off, or safer) is true? WTF kind of logic is that?
If the claim is that we're better off because of this war, then it is up to you to provide evidence of such. It's not rational thinking to assume we're better off simply because you see no reason that we're not.3/26/2008 8:49:31 AM |

I'm willing to bet these fuckstains who take offense to that image have not had a single friend die in Iraq. I find it extremely egregious for them to criticize someone like me, who is adamantly opposed to this war; because I don't "support the troops." Some of those faces in that picture are friends of mine. So they need to quit taking offense on behalf of my friends and their families and their friends. They can come back to me when they've had friends and family die in Iraq and tell me exactly why I'm less of an American because I oppose this nonsense. 3/26/2008 9:55:59 AM |
