and anybody that knows me knows how i feel about having people live with me....
she's an old friend from college that needed somewhere to stay for a few months before she goes to VT for her PhD...
She moved in at the beginning of March and I think she's spent 4 nights in the house since she's been living there...
she stays at her "not at all serious guy she's dating"'s house every night...
so basically I'm getting $400/month to be her storage unit...
however, she does have a dog...a yellow lab that torments my cat when he's there and there is crap laying all over my house that belongs to her so I'm a bit OCD about that since I can't clean properly...
but damn...this is a pretty sweet deal 3/26/2008 7:39:27 AM |

^^hell no...
i've pretty much lived by myself for 6 years...get or take a few random months here and there when i run my homeless shelter for friends that need somewhere to stay....
i've grown accustomed to being by myself....like to the point where i'm uncomfortable if there is anybody else in my house...
it'll suck if i ever get married and have kids...we'll have to live in different houses
it would be nice to have somebody to snuggle on the couch with on occasion though

haha...the main point is that she's not there...
that's what usually gripes my ass about having a roommate....somebody that is always around...just hanging around my house...
i never had the slightest issue living with people when i was in school...and i don't have a problem at someone else's place...but there is just something different since i own my own home...
i guess it's just selfishness...and i'm perfectly ok with that 3/26/2008 8:01:23 AM |

i've had 2 boys live with me...
i felt like i was their mother...
one was 18 and grew up in the mountains with no cable so all he did was lay on the couch 24 hours a day and watch tv....if he didn't come home at night i got worried about him...
his mom didn't like the idea of him living with a 25 year old chick so he wasn't there long....i just came home one day and he was gone...
the other dude was pretty cool for a while...but he's bipolar and refuses to see anybody about it...he was very messy and would buy porn whenever i went out of town....i did all his laundry because it's the only way i could keep my house clean...
he said I'm planning on living here as long as you live here...unless you get married and i have to leave....THAT REALLY FREAKED ME OUT
then he threw his gf up against the wall in my house one night while i was sleeping so i took her back to her dorm...when i came home he was gone and i have only seen him a couple of times since then...

i also had one of my best friends from high school live with me while she was interning in raleigh from ECU...
she came in January and wasn't getting married in August...
that was fucking traumatic...
she spent a lot of time at his house.....but he spent a lot of time there too...and she gave him a key which really pissed me off...
i've never even given any of my bf's a key to my house...
i've had to go pick her up from various places numerous times when they were fighting...and got woke up in the middle of the night to her screaming at him on the phone....
and she ended up having a big blow out with almost her entire wedding party because the whole group of them were selfish bitches...
but hey...whatever floats your boat...
moral of this story...
i shouldn't live with girls either 3/26/2008 8:16:35 AM |

ok...so i was just going through my mail and i find a letter addressed to the nut job that used to live with me...the one that beat his gf in my house...
well let me preface this by saying i once received a letter in the mail about a year after he moved out informing him that the porno company he bought all his shit from was closing or merging or something....and they wanted to thank him for being such a valued customer for so long...it made me giggle....
well i find a letter in this pile of mail from some psychiatric firm saying they are going to close his chart because he has never come back for a follow up session and that he can't get his meds anymore...or something to that affect...
he hasn't lived here for nearly 2 years....so he must have actually been getting some treatment when he first moved in with me because that's when he was mostly normal....
then he went off the deep end...
he was one of those people where i wouldn't even have been shocked to come home some day and see him laying in the middle of the floor dead from suicide...
oh well...no point to this story....i just wanted to share 3/31/2008 7:49:46 AM |

ok...this is becoming an issue...
she was home all week because the man was working night shift...not a big deal during the day because he's locked up in his crate...and at night he stays in her room...
but in the evenings when i get home my poor cat stays locked up in my bedroom because the dog will eat her...this also means she can't get to her food or litter box...
well i get home from being out of town this weekend and the roomie nor the dog are at home but my cat is crying like none other....and will not stop....i finally make it to the kitchen to see that the door is shut to both her food and her litter box...i assume because the dog tried to get into it....i have no idea how long it had been like that since i wasn't there...
then i notice my rug in the kitchen...now half of the huge dark blue rug in my kitchen is splattered white...it looks like some sort of powder or something but i'm not sure...what i am sure of is that it won't come off...
i'm going to have to replace all the rugs and all the carpet in my house when she leaves in july 4/14/2008 10:16:35 AM |

^^well i know these aren't people that are going to be there for long...
i only allow roommates on the condition that they just need somewhere to stay briefly before going somewhere else...
i've only had one that planned on living there forever and i wasn't made aware of that until after he moved in...but he wasn't there that long anyway

If the dog is harassing your car, or especially if it would hurt your cat, crash train the dog. Let your cat and dog interact and as soon as the dog does anything aggressive towards the cat, scream bloody murder at the dog, point, and punish it by locking it outside/on the porch/in a room. Your roommate might get pissed, but its your cat and your damn house. If someone let or neglected to restrain their animals and it ended up hurting it killing one of mine, I would take it out on the owner with a bat.
Oh, and if her crap is everywhere, whenever you want to clean, just move it all into her room unorganized. 4/14/2008 10:42:25 AM |

well the issue with the cat isn't aggression...it's size...
he doesn't get that he's a full grown lab and she's a cat...
he thinks he's her size and can play with her....she's old and too anal to tolerate a young dog... 4/14/2008 10:44:32 AM |
