So i walk into EB2 and theres a table set up with pamphlets and goodies with a well dressed man talking to students, i was late for class so i had to pass up this great chance to talk to a company job recruiter. But just like always a pack of indians were all over the table, filling out papers, talking about their credentials. at the last second i look and the sign on the table says, "bone marrow donations 3/26/2008 8:55:07 PM |

No... extremely painful bone marrow donation does though. So does illiteracy combined with that damn evil rolly-eyes smiley.
In addition to probable side effects such as:
* Headache * Muscle pain * Fatigue * Insomnia * Nausea and flu-like symptoms * Sweating * Loss of appetite * Tingling
There is also the near-certain side effect of bone pain:
Quote : | " Pain. This is a certainty. The pain is described as similar to having taken a hard fall. The pain is treated with analgesics and goes away after 14 days on average " |

Uh huh, but we're not talking about the idea of people donating out of a sense of wanting to do for someone what they couldn't do for a loved one. The supposition here is that they thought (since they were talking about CREDENTIALS) that they were applying for jobs. While your choice to donate is admirable, it has nothing to do with what's funny here.

^yeah pretty much, its just funny how they are the first in line for every job fair and every recruiter, but now they were first in line to lose bone marrow, lol 3/26/2008 10:16:21 PM |

Lets make fun of a race for wanting to get jobs...just to mix things up a bit.
And then also tease them for donating their own bone marrow.
I don't think they are offended by this thread. 3/26/2008 10:48:01 PM |

The idea of someone accidentally agreeing to a painful, though ultimately helpful, medical procedure while under the impression that they're applying for a job is hilarious regardless of their race. It's more about not paying attention than anything else. I doubt these guys can fill out job applications and talk up their credentials in english and not be ABLE to read enough English to understand "bone marrow donations" is not a kind firm currently hiring many workers. The amusing part is anyone who'd do this would have to have been so caught up in blindly applying for any and all jobs not to notice what they were signing up for. You see, some fairly classic forms of humor revolve around an oblivious person's narrow focus bringing them pain- and in this case bringing other people life. It's actually a step up from laughing at slapstick comedy because not only do you get to enjoy someone else's failure to pay attention bringing them temporary discomfort, but you get to enjoy the sense of justice in the consequence of their single-mindedness bringing something good to cancer patients.
This works regardless of WHO we're laughing at. If you want it to be a race joke though, well why the hell not. I'm not going to piss myself if you start talking about irish men being drunk wife-beating morons. I could even tell you some stories about my uncles that serve as good anecdotal evidence.
Stop being a hyper-sensitive child and laugh a little. Damn some of you guys need to take yourselves less seriously before you have an aneurysm.3/27/2008 12:29:18 AM |

so the indians thought they were applying for job, but they were really applying to donate bone marrow, but somehow they didn't realize this?

Yeah I think the joke would work better if the group used was "communication majors." Then their failure read the signs and listen to the well-dressed-man would be slightly ironic too.3/27/2008 2:13:04 AM |

No, I'd be a fucking idiot if I assumed that there aren't large numbers of people here that ignore written words beyond what simple obliviousness would explain.
But I'm sure you weren't responding to me, since I've repeatedly referred to what he described as "the joke" or "a joke." I mean, obviously you were speaking generally and conditionally since you wouldn't do something as stupid as claim that believing people would do something without reading relevant information first while failing to read one or two above posts yourself. I mean come on, you're not some kind of com major or something. 3/27/2008 2:22:54 AM |

There's a new way to give bone marrow without huge needles being stuck into your bones, and pain and whatnot.
I did it a couple years ago, it's called the PBSC process 3/27/2008 10:40:13 PM |
