If you could remove two schools from the ACC and add two to replace them, who would you choose and why?

I would remove Maryland & Boston College and add Louisville and University of Kentucky.

I think Boston College was a bad choice to ever join the ACC due its extreme distance from the other schools in the conference. With the higher travel costs and the amount of time needed for BC to come to any of the other schools, and vice versa, I think it would be wiser if they were a part of another conference.

Maryland has always been that "other" school - meaning we never could pair it up with any of the other schools. Our "pairs" are UVA/VT, the 4 NC based schools, GT/CU, UMiami/FSU. (oh, and I HATE MARYLAND)

Adding Louisville and UK would give us another great pair, another great in-state rivalry, and even more challenging games in both Football & Basketball.

I'd only remove either Maryland or BC and add in South Carolina.

Would help us become a better football conference, and would add the Clemson/SC rivalry to the ACC.

Did they recently move the state of West Virginia closer to the Altantic ocean?

I didn't actually read all of the first post before responding. But JESUS CHRIST. You think Kentucky would leave the SEC? Georgia Tech is "paired" with Clemson? You people.

BC out. Add UF (to get all the big 3 florida schools), UGA (to turn Clean, Old Fashioned Hate into a conference game), South Carolina (turn The Battle for the Palmetto State into a conference game and reclaim an original member), WVU (bring back the Black Diamond Trophy rivalry with VaTech, along with rivalries with UMD and UVA), and either Penn State or Pitt (Pitt would be good for a rivalry with WVU and they do have good basketball) for a 16 team mega conference.

I like it the way it is

academically it's a solid collection of east coast schools, a step above the big east and sec in that regard

Yeah but get of Maryland for sure, dumb fuckers.

The smartest thing anyone said in this thread.

I'd dump the two distance extremes in Miami and BC and replace them with UGA and USC (Gamecocks, not Trojans).

While I would like to see the USC/Clemson rivalry as part of the conference, USC would not be a good replacement. Bottom line, there would be no benefit to the conference to have USC return.

please to start a conference of just NC schools. We call it the Mid-Atlantic State Between Virginia and South Carolina Conference, or for you lazy people the MASBVSC.

This thread is full of stupid. It isn't even interesting to discuss.

Take out BC and Wake Forest, put in South Carolina and Georgia. I really have no explanation for the move...but I think South Carolina has always belonged in the ACC and I couldn't think of another team to take out so I picked on the little private school in Winston Salem.

Delete BC and Miami. BC give nothing to the conference, the city only cares about professional sports, and there's no point to having a lone northeastern school, that's what the Big East is for. Miami was brought in solely for football and they have not delivered. They have no fans unless they're challenging for the national championship.

There's really no one worth adding that would come. South Carolina would be the most logical but they'd be stupid to leave the SEC for the ACC. Ditto for other schools in our geographic zone such as Florida and Georgia.

So just leave it at ten teams.

Although if we could do sport-specific switches, jettison Duke to C-USA for football and replace them with East Carolina...which will never happen, but neither will anything else in this thread.

using that logic you'd take out miami as well considering they take exactly the same time to travel to.

not maryland, despite their awful fans.

^^^Davidson has a D-1 football team and they play in the Pioneer League with Valpo, Drake, Campbell, etc. They don't offer scholarships for football, which hurts them for football. In 2000, Davidson went undefeated ending the season 10-0 with a 41-17 victory over Georgetown @ Davidson
