yeah, i know the game has been out for a while and no longer represents the cutting edge, but i love it well enough to want to start a new character...it installed fine on vista, but it's not allowing me to load any saved files...i have my old saved games (which i moved when i went from XP to vista), and they're IN the right folder, but it's not seeing them in the game...also, when i start a new character, and save the game, it doesn't show up in the "load" screen, and it doesn't show up in the saved games folder

anyone else experience this problem? i assume it's an issue only with vista, something about the way they changed their "my documents" setup, but maybe i tweaked something unknowingly...also, where might i change the location of the saved games folder?

any help's appreciated, yo

What i did was start a character in Oblivion on vista, then save it. Then i searched for the save game file and found out where oblivion put it, then i moved my xp save games to the new vista folder. Seemed to work fine for me.

Wait, that's not good. That means there's something wrong with the game install. You should be able to start a new character and save it/load it just fine. Try reinstalling it?

^^ i tried re-installing, and i'm getting the same thing

^ UAC is turned off (and i read online that if you change UAC after installing, it can cause problems)...UAC has been off since the day i installed vista

i'm thinking i might have done something in the process of trying to make vista act more like XP (in that you can redirect the "users" folder to its own partition)...i might have changed some of those settings and that's what's doing it
