Who would win?

I honestly believe a decent boys team would dominate even a good program (Tenn, UNC, UCONN, etc), and that there are many boys teams that would dominate in the WNBA.

Just to put the difference in athleticism in perspective -- on a good HS team, you'll have several players who can dunk. In all of women's college basketball, you have what, one or two who can dunk? Needless to say, strength, speed, height, blah blah blah is not even comparable.

there was a story (i think two years ago) about college womens teams who would practice against, and lose to, male students who had played hs basketball. not college level players or anything, just guys who had played before.

If it was a full length, actual rules game, with refs, fouls, coaches etc. I could see a top women's team (UConn and Tenn) hanging with an average mens team. Every chick on those two teams was easily the best player on their HS team and probably the best player in their county/region maybe even state. The HS mens starting five would kill the women's starting five probably but once you get 7-9 deep I think the women could catch up. You can be really really really shitty and at least make a HS team

right, i think most d1 womens teams would beat, say, the team for the hs i went to, we only had about 1k students.

but i would say any high classification hs team would be most womens college teams.

and a team like oak hill, or even word of god or mt. zion, would roll a womens team.

This is almost as stupid a question as asking how the best NCAA football team would do against the worst NFL team.

The HS boys would absolutely pwn the NY whatever the fuck that WNBA team is. Fact of the matter is that you could probably go down to Carmichael right now, pick 9 guys playing pickup and put them against our women's team and the girls would get run by 30.

The boys have the obvious athleticism and height advantage, but the girls can shoot lights out.

I would guess a good 4A team from NC could take a lot but not all college women's team.

The girls don't shoot well when creating their own shot, but from a set shot they do.

The college girl's bench players are better set shooters, than the majority of HS 4A guards.

height would be an overwhelming factor immediately. The women would have shots contested way too much and the guys could easily shoot over the women... plus the guys would have quicker fast breaks, etc

LOL at girls shooting better. Abby Waner over at Duke is supposedly really good and shoots like 35%.

And no girl better come in saying it is harder because if anything it is easier. 3 women's sized balls fit into the rim.

I don't believe that an average boy's high school team could beat a well-coached women's college team.

However, I do believe as previously mentioned that the Oak Hills of the world could probably stomp on most women's college teams(and probably WNBA teams).

Keep in mind though that the Candace Parker's and Ivory Latta's of the world can still ball out of their minds.

As an undergrad at the University of Florida, I occasionally saw a pick-up game in the intramural gym that included a couple of WNBA players, several Gator football players, and one or two former Gator men's basketball players. Running full-court, 4-on-4 or 5-on-5, the women held their own quite well with some top-notch athletes.

The women's college players I have played with could shoot lights out if you left them open, but struggled with a hand in the face (and most don't elevate a lot on their jump shot). Decent guys are quick and long enough to contest every shot if they play disciplined defense. The strength/athleticism differential is just too much on the blocks because of body chemistry (Sean May jokes aside, would you really see someone that looks as fat/out of shape as Larkin for UNC dominate a men's game?).

That said, a lot of guys could get in trouble with poor fundamentals, getting out of position, etc.

Dont women in the professional league use the same size bballs as middle school boys? Men are faster, taller, and stronger than women and thus are better at basketball. I mean how can women basketball players that are 6'6 and taller not dunk?

The only reason you see women seeming to shoot better is because the use a smaller ball but the same size hoop.

I would be willing to bet money that this year's boy's 3A HS championship team would kick the shit out of our women's bball team.

I just watched about 2 minutes of women's NCAA basketball (a 1 v. 2 matchup) and it reminded me again why I have no respect for the women's game. The skill level isn't there, the athleticism isn't there, and it's just not the same game.

It's like watching tee-ball, only enjoyable if that's your kid out there playing.
