sweet.

Hank Williams Sr. possibly died the most perfect death a country music star could die.

last hit song: I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive," dies in the middle of a storm in the back of a car on a lonely Southern highway.

Thanks for the btt.

For New Years Eve I went up to the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery. Pretty eerie looking at the Cadillac he died in on the night he died. Watched some folks do some Hank Williams karaoke and listened to a couple of Hank Williams impersonators. Jason Petty played Hank in the "Hank Williams: Lost Highway" musical. He was a real personable guy, but the one who really blew me away was Jake Penrod. Here is a picture of the two of us after he got done with his set:

Afterwards, we went out to Hank's graveside right at midnight:

The next morning we gathered back at his graveside for a wreath-laying and a short speech by Hank Williams' old butcher. After that Jake Penrod sang "I Saw the Light" before we all broke up for the day. Pretty good time:

Here is a clip where you can hear Jake playing, he's pretty damn good:
