I've got laying around, a decent set of wheels off a Scion tc, but they are bent (i.e. off round). Owner hit a nasty pot hole. I've called around to a few shady places, but I'm not sure if I can trust them. Also needs to be under $90. Because anything over that and I might as well just buy new ones. I do need it done soon though for an upcoming auto-x.

Places I've called:
- Downtown Collision (quoted me $75)
- Capital Custom Wheel (quoted me between $50 - $150)

i can refer you to a good shop in Pensacola, FL. They fixed one of my Fikse wheels on my S2000 (i ran over one of those little upside-down salad bowl looking things that rattle your car if you change lanes where you aren't supposed to, and it bent my wheel).

It was more than $90, though.

I can't imagine that stock Scion wheels are worth fixing, though.

I went on scion forums today and purchased two (2) used ones. Cheaper than getting the bent ones fixed. No, they aren't perfect, but much better than bent ones.

Another delimma... I need some lug nuts. I can't find any The ones from my wheels won't fit. It's a different style.

the prob. is that the lug surface is flat.

so the acorn style ones wont work (and he mentioned the stud doesnt go out that far)


he needs something that goes into that second indention.

^^^ I wished it did. Would save me a bunch of money on lug nuts. It has to be a mag lug with a shank to work.

Called Discount Tire, they didn't have any that had the "shank" style washer. Supposedly, without the washer the lugs will get loose and fall off... don't want that happening

I'll try and stop by Autozone with my wheels after work. Thanks guys.

$0 for free Scion tC wheels ( 17x7" @ +45mm offset )
$100 to bore out wheels 1mm all around by machine shop (from 54.1mm to 56.1mm)
$35 for mag shank lugs from Pep Boys (12x1.25mm thread pitch, these were PITA hard to find)
$10 for extra washers (Stock shank length is slightly shorter than aftermarket mag lugs, so have to compensate with an extra washer. Not sure how safe this is, but I figured if the stock lugs had washers, then another washer is not going to kill me. I drove it fairly aggressively this morning, and checked my lugs. They are on tight still. I'll just have to check them often. If you see a news story about a guy in a WRX dying in a wreck, then it might be me . Pray for me.)

Total for wheels: $145

$420 for Falken Azenis RT-615 @ 225/45/17 (Auto-x Ready baby! )

First Impressions
Not bad. Not bad at all. Yes, you can call me Mr. El Cheap-o. Of course, if you have the money, I recommend wheels that are actually meant for your car. Haha!

But, since these are going to be mainly cheap auto-x wheels, I figure I struck gold.

Took it up to 85MPH this morning on highway. No serious vibrations at this point. Slight noise from my front right fender but, I've been getting that noise anyways... (see my other threads from the past few days). So, I'm not going to blame that on the wheels just yet. Are RT615's known for slightly louder road noise? These are my first pair.

I'll update you guys a few months from now. If I shred my wheel bearings and the wheels goes flying into someone's living room, I'll let you know.

I'm pretty happy with the wheels. Went autocrossing today, it was a blast. Wheels aren't super light, but for cheap, they are unbeatable. No lug nuts fell off, so I'd say my washer method works fine.

The Azenis RT-615's are incredible. I wouldn't recommend them on a daily driver, but best tires I've ever had as far as auto-x goes. Probably bettered my times by over 5 seconds. Not even an exaggeration.

I might give Downtown Collision a try first since it is closer. Capital Custom Wheel looks like mostly wheel sales from their website. Anyone have any other places worth trying?

I took my wheel to Downtown Collision today. Very nice people and they finished the wheel in a little over an hour. $75 to straighten and around $25 more to clean up some curb rash. I gave Capital Custom Wheel a call first, but they send the wheel to an off site machine shop and it takes about a day to get it back.
