it sucks gas is over $3 and thus people have to pay more at the pump.

What I have gotten sick of is liberals showboating their "economical green" cars as if they are better than other people b.c they spend less on gas while at the same time being more "green." This new fad is stupid. Your slow ass prius is not cool. Props for showing environmental responsibility and saving yourself some money but this doesn't mean you need to act like your the shit for owning a hybrid/E85 car/etc. Fact is your car is slow as fuck, cramped, and looks like a piece of shit. For example there is a person who parks on centennial who drives a VW beetle with a bumpersticker "55.555 mpg!!!"

not all green cars look like that, and some are quite fast. i drive a hybrid and i get good gas mileage and have better HP than the standard V6. Please know what you're talking about before posting such a polarized opinion.

then again if that was a rule, i guess there would be no SB threads.

also, whats the point of having a car that can go super fast in little to no time when we have such regulated speed limits.

speed limits are more of teh speed "suggestion" instead of the limit

The tesla is also $100 thousand.

But I agree, it is pretty sweet, if only all green cars could be so awesome.

Quote :
"Production delivery was originally planned for October 2007 and then delayed, in September 2007, until the first calendar quarter of 2008. Series production of the car began on March 17, 2008[17] after over two years of prototyping and testing. However, the first production Roadster, referred to as "P1", was delivered to Tesla Motors' Chairman Elon Musk on February 1, 2008. [18][19][20][21]

Subsequent to completion of production car number one at Hethel, the company announced problems with transmission reliability. The development transmission, with first gear enabled to accelerate 0-60 mph in 4 seconds, was reported to have a life expectancy of as low as only a few thousand miles. Tesla Motors' first two transmission suppliers were unable to produce transmissions, in quantity, that could withstand the continuous torque requirements of the electric motor. In December 2007, Tesla Motors announced plans to ship the initial Roadsters with the transmissions locked into second gear to provide 0-60 mph acceleration in 5.7 seconds. The first production car was not delivered with this interim solution; P1 has both transmission gears enabled. According to the plan, the initial transmissions will be swapped out under warranty when the finalized transmission, power electronics module (PEM) and cooling system becomes available. The EPA range of the car was also restated from 245 miles (394 km) down to 221 miles (356 km). The downward revision was attributed to an error in equipment calibration at the laboratory that conducted the original test."

The Tesla is damn cool, but it's seen it's share of problems already and production has been pushed back multiple times.

Right, and for some that is out of the range of possibilities, especially when compared to more modestly priced sports cars. On the other hand, price should be no factor when you've got car that'll make your penis look <--THIS--> big. *cough*

You must own an Accord hybrid, which Honda stopped selling b/c of lack of sales.

I thought about riding my mule instead of driving, but he emits a lot of carbon so I don't think Al Gore would approve. Since he invented the internet, he should go ahead and invent that beaming thing off of star trek. The nerds and the hippies would rejoice
