" RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama have both signed off on a Democratic debate in North Carolina. The question now is when.
Obama had previously agreed to debate his rival on April 19 in North Carolina. On Thursday, the Clinton campaign said she has agreed to a debate April 27, sponsored by CBS."

I call upon the frats of NCSU to streak this event. It would be epic, and who knows maybe not much jail time.

is it even set yet? as far as i know, obama suggested a date (april 17) a while back to which clinton didn't agree. then clinton suggested a date (april 27) to which obama hasn't confirmed either.

Questions I wish I would see: "Sen. Obama, how long do you believe we combat troops will be in Iraq? In a 2006 speech you said that we should not withdraw before the 'realities on the ground' dictate. In 2007 you introduced legislation to begin troop withdrawal, but included a clause that would allow for an indefinate pause in redeployment. And in 2008, your senior foreign policy adviser said that your goal completing redeployment within 16 months of entering office was only a best case scernio and not a true commitment. So what is in fact your most realistic scenario for how long combat troops will remain in Iraq?"

Oddly enough, it's one that's never been asked.

Questions I expect to see: "Sen. Obama, do you....do you...do remember that time you gave a speech about the war in Iraq was bad? ..... That was awesome." </Farley>

Congratulations, Democrats! Now, no matter which one of you wins the nomination, you've just lost NC. I mean, it's not like the nomination matters either way, because no matter what, neither of them can win, but it is kind of insulting if you're going to pretend like this is relevant.

From the New York Times:

Quote :
"Mrs. Clinton’s campaign issued a statement saying, “It is unfortunate that Senator Obama has chosen to brush off the people of North Carolina by flatly refusing to debate. But we are willing to move forward with another time and location for the debate so that he has no excuse for not participating. ”

Bill Burton, Obama campaign spokesman, replied: “It’s unfortunate that the Clinton campaign decided to play politics with this — especially considering that Senator Obama agreed to a North Carolina debate long before Senator Clinton did, and their campaign took three weeks to consider and ultimately reject that proposal.”"

Come now, they'd probably get better viewership among North Carolina voters on Monday Night Raw versus a WRAL hosted, CBS moderated debate anyways.

wonder if they're going to reschedule since they actually have to give a shit about our stupid redneck state now...hillary and obama are both like "sheeeeeeeit"

if they do they'll try to "out-NC" each other...I can see it now:

Barack: "I was eating a barbecue sandwich with some tobacco farmers and I told them how optimistic I am about Jake Delhomme's recovery"

Hillary: "Well I was at a textile mill and while I was volunteering an 8-hour shift, I realized how James Taylor was right when he said he was in Carolina in his mind"

i don't know if you've noticed, but both clinton and obama have been paying a fair amount of attention to NC in the past couple weeks.

they both paid so much attention, that neither of them could agree on a date for a debate

that will certainly change soon

i thought the deal now was that coordinating that would be too much for the other parties involved (or so i read).

both candidates offered days for a debate. neither agreed to the other's. it certainly doesn't look like obama will agree to one after the last one (maybe he'll surprise me and try to improve on the disaster that was the last debate).

i think both candidates are going to be forced to find a date that works for both of them...if obama had won pennsylvania, probably not...but since hillary won i think that adds even more importance to the remaining states, including NC, so I expect them to schedule something...Billiam Clinton is already in Statesville today

See I just figured the chickening out of the debate was due to the fact that they were actually asked some uncomfortable questions in the last one. The both of them are worried they'll be damaged by right wingers like Stephanolopis (you spell it and in case you were confused that was sarcasm).

Obama would serve himself well to avoid any further debates with anyone.

The last debate showed that when faced with even the slightest reasoned conservative argument, he folds up like a sheet.

The democrats have two very flawed candidates going up against a liberal republican. Does not bode well for them... just ask John Kerry. .. another flawed ultra-liberal.

so the conservative argument now is to repeat the same fear-mongering crap ad nauseam? i think the american people are keen enough to not fall for that a third time in a row.

Nan I'm not talking about flag-pins, terrorist pals or radical priests...

I'm talking conservative ideas....

Quote :
"GIBSON: And in each instance, when the rate dropped, revenues from the tax increased; the government took in more money. And in the 1980s, when the tax was increased to 28 percent, the revenues went down.

So why raise it at all, especially given the fact that 100 million people in this country own stock and would be affected?

OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I've said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.

We saw an article today which showed that the top 50 hedge fund managers made $29 billion last year -- $29 billion for 50 individuals. And part of what has happened is that those who are able to work the stock market and amass huge fortunes on capital gains are paying a lower tax rate than their secretaries. That's not fair."

I don't think the word "Fair" is even in the US Constitution. It's not the job of our gov't to make sure everyone's lot in life turns out the same as his neighbor. In order to punish the top 50 most successful fund managers, Obama is willing to double the capital gains tax on 100 million stock-holders...that's fairness?

Obama either doesn't understand economics and is showing his ignorance...or he does understand it and is playing class-warfare to gin up more votes. Eith way, a poor showing for a presidential candidate.
