I tried to do a search for Gavin threads, but the Search function is messed up.

http://portsmouthinvitational.com/boxscores/2008_Game_3.html

Team's leading scorer in this game with 15 points (9/10 free throws).

He has basically no chance of getting drafted.. Might be able to get picked up by some team in FA...will probably at least by on a summer league team, then join up with Hodge somewhere.

thats true

but a team as bad as the 2007-2008 Miami Heat only comes around once a decade or so

Gavin missed the boat by one year

Chris Quinn is pretty solid. Medium athletic ability, smart player, better than average shooter, solid ball-handler...and overall a tough player.

Point guard play doesn't seem to be as important in the NBA as it is in college. You're at an obvious advantage if you have a really good point guard (Phoenix, Utah, Detroit, New Orleans, etc)...but you don't have to have a great point guard to win championships.

Kobe and Shaq's Lakers, Michael and Scottie's Bulls, San Antonio (save the most recent with a seasoned Tony Parker), had mediocre or worse point guards.

This allows guys like Chris Quinn, Dan Dickau, Luke Ridnour, and Steve Blake to get significant minutes at the point in the NBA. Good shooting guards are a dime a dozen. So unless Gavin and can fix his erratic ball-handling abilities...I see little hope for him in the NBA.

i dont think Quinn would hardly be playing at all if it werent for injuries to Wade, Marion, Haslem, etc etc and the fact that Miami is giving up

but I also think if Gavin were on the Heat's roster, he would be getting minutes this season also

^That's why I was hoping the Heat would pick up Hodge. The guys they picked up before him are horrible.

But Quinn was actually playing a decent amount in the first half of the season (and doing pretty well). I never really figured out why his play declined as the season went along. Its not like Jason Williams was tearing it up.
