Probably because the Heat and Marlins have won championships in the past 10 years.

^ And the owner of the Marlins wants to move to Vegas if he doesn't get a new stadium built when he can't even draw 5000 to some games.

Not so sure about Denver being on there. The Broncos won back to back Super Bowls 10 years ago, and have been pretty competitive since. Same with the Avalanche, who have qualified for the playoffs every season they've been there except last season, and won the Cup in 96 and 01.

Atlanta would have a spot in the top ten if anyone actually gave a shit about the Hawks or Thrashers.

Why is Cleveland in the top ten? The Cavs went to the finals last year, the Browns were a game away from makng the playoffs, and the indians were a game away from the world series last year.

Buffalo should definitely be #1, followed closely by Cleveland and Philly (either one can take the #2 spot). Seriously Philly fans are depressing. They even have said that they are cursed b/c someone built a skyscraper taller than William Penn's statue atop city hall (The Curse of Billy Penn).

This would be a tough list to make. First of all, it's a top 10 list, and I really doubt more than 25 cities would actually even qualify as potential targets. I'd guess you'd need at least 3 of 4 of the major sports to be considered (thus since Raleigh only has hockey it couldn't even get ranked).

That being said, how do you leave Chicago off the list? The Blackhawks have been abysmal since I was a little kid. The Bulls have been really bad ever since that one Jordan guy left in '98. Yes the White Sox pulled out a World Series title a few years ago but other than that they have 2 teams who are destined for loserville every year. The Bears have had a few good teams, but no Superbowl win since '85 and hey... they play in the NFC.

Quote :
"2. Seattle"

I hate being a Seattle fan. Last title for any of the major sports teams was the 1978-1979 Seattle Supersonics.

Luckily they don't have a hockey team and I became a Red Wings fan otherwise the last title for any of my favorite teams would be the 1983 Wolfpack team.

Quote :
"Teams: Seahawks (NFL) Mariners (MLB), Sonics (NBA)

Title round record: 1-3 (23rd)

Semifinal round record: 4-7 (24th)

Total seasons/early playoff-round exits (or baseball 2nd place): 105/28 (16th)

Total seasons/championships: 105/1 (25th)

Years since last title: 29 (22nd)

Teams lost: 0 (So far)

Losing baseball's expansion Pilots in 1970 doesn't count--the deal to move to Milwaukee in season two was already in place. But if the NBA's Sonics depart for Oklahoma City, Seattle will inherit the top spot. "

God Damnit

Oakland would be better off w/out fucking Al Davis. No coach wants to come in and restore the Raiders to glory with this control freak micro-managing everything they do

Charlotte is just god awful...... sucky NBA/NFL team coupled with non-existant collegiate presence

at least they have an NFL team though.. it's the kind of city you live in where it's not unusual to root against the home team

They are going to build a new $525 million stadium, and when they move to it they're changing their name to the Miami Marlins

Buffalo should def be number 1

but Buffalo has GOTTEN to Superbowls and Stanley Cups, which many cities/teams never have...plus they haven't had a franchise leave since the Braves iirc

Please explain why you think so.

Quote :
"1. Atlanta, Ga.
Teams: Falcons (NFL) Braves (MLB), Hawks (NBA), Thrashers (NHL) Flames (NHL)

Title round record: 1-5 (24th)

Semifinal round record: 6-9 (23rd)

Total seasons/early playoff-round exits (or baseball 2nd place): 142/41 (20th)

Total seasons/championships: 142/1 (25th)

Years since last title: 13 (14th)

Teams lost: 1 (Flames)

Atlanta sports teams have just one championship to show for 15 final-four appearances. Its hockey and basketball teams have, combined, two conference-finals appearances in 57 combined seasons.
"

Quote :
"3. Buffalo, N.Y.
Teams: Bills (NFL-AFL), Braves (NBA), Sabres (NHL)

Title round record: 2-6 (22nd)

Semifinal round record: 6-6 (12th)

Total seasons/early playoff-round exits (or baseball 2nd place): 83/33 (25th)

Total seasons/championships: 84/2 (21st)

Years since last title: 43 (23rd)

Teams lost: 1 (Braves)

Everyone knows about the Bills' four straight Super Bowl losses from 1991-94. But at least the team took two American Football League titles. The NHL's Sabres, meanwhile, are going on 38 seasons without a Stanley Cup, coming up empty in six final-four appearances.
"

Atlanta is worse in 3 of the 6 categories with them tying with teams lost.

I think why most people say Buffalo over Atlanta is b/c a good portion of the people that live in Buffalo actually care about their sports teams, while the people in Atlanta on the other hand just seem to be apathetic to their sports teams.

Pistons won the title in 2004. Tigers won the American League in 2006. Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 2002 and are usually good. Just b/c the Lions are usually terrible doesn't mean that they don't have good teams in the other 3 major sports.
