well my original NES is beyond a simple 72 pin replacement.

Coffee has stained the top and where it isn't brown it has yellowed significantly. Both inside and outside have decades of dirt and dust packed into them it takes 5-10 minutes to get a game working, probably the connector, but the dirt still doesn't help. Then my door has been broken off since I was a little kid
and one of my Controllers is missing the select button too.

As long as you don't care about getting laid, then I don't see the problem.

And 94 Gamecube games (and I'm going to assume you have more gaming stuff than that), is more than just a "few bucks." And your friends that are out putting $20 a night on booze are at least satisfying a basic human need. You've still got 94 gamecube games and haven't put any money towards satisfying a thirst.

^^^^ that assumption would be correct sir, with 50+ NES games, 40+ SNES games, 40+ N64 games, 15 wii games and 9 xbox360 games (haven't kept track of the original xbox games, probably more than 30)
Anyways, I quench that thirst just fine with water and occasionally sweet tea.

i've heard the old systems have actually increased in price because they're not becoming retro collector items and working units are becoming scarce. Playstation 1s, game cubes, and that generation has pretty well hit the floor though and you can get for cheaper than like an Atari and stuff (though I think the Atari sucked).
