I guess this sign infront of foodlion means yea lady come and park your SUV right infront of the door, go in for an hour and come back with a cart full of groceries and then leave.

yesterday at the teeter six cars in a row did this and it backed up so far it was hard to make a left coming in the parking lot and for two way traffic to get through.

Damn, the cops must have gotten lazy about writing tickets for this. It used to be pretty unusual to see assholes pulling that.

So is it wrong of someone to 'accidentally' back up and dent/scratch a car that does this or blatantly takes up two spaces in a packed parking lot?

^^ not around nc state, it doesnt matter what time of the day I've been during the last 7 years, i've always seen at least one car or two in the fire lane and its even worse at night despite spots right near the door being open.

One day I went to the food lion on western and there were two firefighters standing outside for some sort of fund raiser. A guy pulls up right in front of them in the fire land, parks and gets out. They look at him like, "are you seriously going to do that right in front of us?" The guy apparently had no idea he was doing anything wrong until they told him to get back in his car and park it correctly.

No it isn't...and infact if you hit someone who is not parked correctly (taking two spaces, not in a parking spot) it will be their fault that you hit them and they will have to pay for any damages caused to your car...

I'm one of those people that squeezes my car into a spot beside the guy that took two spots, I mean my car is crappy enough anyway why would I care if another dent is put in it from their door, and if I put a dent in their door cause of this then well who cares, it was their fault they didn't park correctly.

I'm just saying, if someone is parked in the fire lane, the chances that their wheels are 22" or larger is above average.

probably already been stated, but i'm not reading all this shit...

by some people's logic, it's okay to park in fire lanes, handicapped spots, middle of the street, etc. as long as you put on your hazard lights. (see: cates avenue)

Seems like it would be the easiest "pricey" ticket to write and very hard to get out of, yet I have never seen any come through when i worked at the courthouse or heard of anyone ever getting one.

if you will be UNDER 3 minutes (not roughly 3 or so) with whatever you're doing, I dont see how this is a big deal. I dont do it regularly, but if I'm getting only 1 item and there are no close spots then idc if this bothers you

also not a big deal if you are sitting in the car waiting on someone, it's not like you couldnt move if there were an emergency

just like how some people think its ok to rush somewhere like to a hospital to see someone in the emergency room as long as you have your flashers on and honk your horn.
as a volunteer fire fighter, im allowed to have a red light or white to use in responses. but there are strict rules on it. if im not allowed to intimidate or break any type of law while responding to an emergency.
no one is exempt from parking laws no matter the case.
im sure the cop will let it go but its still a law you broke.

STOP DOING IT.

IT CLOGS THE ROAD, CREATES A HIGHER CHANCE FOR INCIDENT AND IS AGAINST THE LAW

^thats a big pet peeve of mine
if the person in the car isnt handicapped, passenger or driver, then you dont get to use it

I just love when people think that rules don't apply to them

There is a woman in my physics class that brags about how she gets to park in handicap spots cause she uses her daughters tag. I'm working up the nerve to say something, but I'm not as bad ass as I want to be yet.

I'm really suprised a grocery store hasn't put in a drive through for customers who want like 1 or 2 items like many large gas stations in some places have done.

I mean I agree that it would be much easier if I could just park in the fire lane when I want to run into the grocery store and just get one thing. That's why I HATE wal-mart. It's impossible to just run in for one thing, there is never a open spot near the door. But hey, I not above the rules, I go and find a spot and park correctly within the lines and then go in and get my one item.

You guys know that there is nothing stopping you guys from actually saying something to the face of the people who do this, right? But, yeh, it's probably easier and less awkward to just post on here that you don't like it when people do this.

yes. how about the faggot that does this and parks RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GROCERY PICK UP AREA. You know, so no one else can go into the fucker who did the "on-line shopping." Thanks, assfuck. I had to wait an extra 20 minutes because you are too fucking lazy to get a normal parking spot like everyone else, and the dumb bitch inside the store wouldn't let me get my shit unless I was in the spot there.

^^I already said I'm not as bad ass as I want to be yet. Gee simmer down!

Besides social norms have told us to not call out people that we don't know. And since we are the same people that follow parking lot rules we also follow the social norm rules. Therefore we remain passive agressive until we eventually place a bomb under the cars of those people who fuck up.

You mostly see this in college areas and ghettos.
It is pretty disgusting.
And it shames me that college kids are that fucking lazy.
The Avent Ferry Food Lion is the worst, but the Jones Franklin Harris Teeter is pretty bad too.

don't worry about sayign anything to that bitch: soon enough she's gonna need that handicap placard because she'll probably be 200 lbs overweight soon from being a lazy cunt and not walking 20 extra feet when she has the opportunity

i agree, i go to avent ferry foodlion

im going to start wearing my departmental shirt and walk up to people and probably mention something to the manager that those cars need to be moved. and that the store needs to enforce it

shit, in a report from the department, if their are cars in the way of a fire lane. the insurance company may investigate to say, if the car was not there, more could have been saved

but i feel like regulating

I could see doing this if it were maybe raining or something. But under normal circumstances what is the purpose? It must save you all of 10-20 seconds of walking time. And it's not like the fresh air and sunshine wouldn't be good for you.

I think I should start keying a big long line down the side of every car I see doing this.

i guess it depends on the situation but why should u get to be an exception to the rule.

even if ur in the car and could pull away while u wait for someone whose only taking a few minutes, what if everyone did it. thats the point, it could cause problems.

they dont make laws and regulations because its most likely going ot happen.

if there is a slight chance or any chance that there could be a problem, then they make the rule.
doesnt mean u get to break it even if it doesnt seem like a problem to you

It's a sign of laziness among other things.

If you're too damn lazy to park your car like the rest of the civilized people then you're probably fucking up in just about everything else you do.

I think a lot of the problem is that many people think oh this is gonna take a minute, but rarely does anything in a grocery store happen that fast. Usually there is a line at the express checkout or the auto checkout. (This is what conveince stores are for, but I agree many of them have equally long lines).

Then you get the people (a lot during the day) who just park there to get the monthly shopping done. At night there is only one line or just auto machines, which makes the parking in the fire zone longer.
