I dunno if I buy the 'hemp is better' argument. If you're in the US all hemp has to be shipped from abroad - not very environmentally friendly. It would be better to wear a cotton shirt that was grown & sewn in the USA 4/14/2008 9:12:55 AM |

from ALL THE WAY OVER in canada? -- not that far, but your point remains
except that the amount of hemp we purchase is the primary factor influencing farmers' demands for legalized hemp
it's getting harder and harder to explain to american farmers why they can buy some hemp jeans at the mall,
but if they grow industrial cannabis themselves, they'll be arrested
(woody harrelson for president)
cotton required lots of nasty pesticides, because the cotton bolls ARE HOMES TO BUGS AND WORMS
but "the fabric of our lives," means their deaths
(and the poisoning of our ground-water)
organic unbleached cotton is the way to go, or hemp-cotton blends (very nice)
although, admitidly, most of my clothing is cotton, and not unbleached or organic, but it is second-hand
I refuse to buy new clothes unless they are one or more of: organic, unbleached, hemp, naturally dyed, etc.
shit, I've even got a pair of those 99% recycled shoes
a lot of hemp clothing is sewn in the us, we just can't grow it
