I'm so tired of answereing the phone and having the conversation go like this.

Me:"Hello"
Them:"Hello"
Me: "Hello?"
Me: "Who is this?"

or

Me:"Hello"
Them:"Hello"
Them:"......"
Me:"Who is this?"

The way I was brought up you when you call someone you say who you are after they say hello.

I know who I am, Since you're calling me you know who I am, and you know who you are

I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE ASSHOLE!

It's really embarassing when someone calls and says "Hey, what's up dude" and you don't know who they are

^^not really, I'll just say who is this? and if its somebody I should know, then I'll just play it off as they sound different on the phone.

could we end the thread right there? You didn't identify yourself and you're problem is that people don't do the same?

I always answer with my name and identify myself if I call. (Unless I know it is a friend calling, then it is unnecessarily formal.)

this isn't nearly as bad as texts from people not in your phone.

I had a guy call me mistakenly thinking that I was someone else in his phone with the same first name. I picked up on it and said "Who do you think you're talking to?"

He thought that I was threatening him and got really weird.

I have several freinds that I just keep forgeting to put them in my phone. By the time I think about it, their number is gone, and I'm too emberrased to ask them, or even common friends.

The worst is when you don't talk to a stalker girl for a good three years and you think she's finally going to leave you alone...
Then you get that call at 1:00 a.m.

Me: Hello
Her: HAaaaay...What are you doing?
Me: Who is this?
Her: Youuuu don't recognize my voiiiiiiice?
Me: WHO IS THIS?
Her: It's me ________.
::click::

:ring:
Me: WHAT
Her: Please don't hang up on me :crying:
Me: Leave me alone....Quit calling me.

my favorite is:

**ring**

me: hello
them: hey..what's up?
me: not much...what are you doing?
them: nothing
me: cool
them: so what are you getting into tonight/
me: uhhh...i don't know?
them: do you even know who this is?
me: of course i do
them: who is it then?
me: look...if you don't know who you are then i'm not going to tell you
them: hahaha

then we carry on a complete conversation and still have no clue who i was talking to when it's over
