(disclaimer: this thread sucks but i cant sleep)

the show is called Scariest Places on Earth

it was on my DVR (comes on sci-fi). first time i've ever watched it. this episode appears to be about:

waverly hills sanatorium. it's supposed to be pretty haunted. i've seen it be investigated by other people on other shows. the most "notable" investigation was on the show 'Ghost Hunters' by the group TAPS. and they actually got some cool video "evidence" of what looked like a ghost. ANYWAYS, i'm not gonna get into the ghosts are real/ghosts are fake shit cause oviously that could last longer than a politics or jesus argument. plus i dont even think that i believe in them, i just hope they exist. (kinda like jesus LOLZ. oh i'm kidding) anyway, here's the point (finally)

this episode has about 6 twenty-somthing females just walking around in this place with flashlights. every time they hear a noise or something, they fucking flip out and start SCREAMING in my tv... which is really annoying at like 5am when there's no other noise.

WHY, GOD? WHY?

it could be a neat show if they followed around actual normal people. or at least if they had sleepover parties in haunted houes with topless girls just wearing panties or something. ANYTHING besides this shrilling nonsense

anyone else seen it?

yeah, it's wicked shitty. I think MTV did something very similar a few years back.

ha this post ended up taking like an hour cause i got sidetracked looking for a video:

yeah that show reminded me a lot of that show FEAR. i actually think they did an episode on that same place too. but i already said which one i like the most

if you like that knd of show in general, then ghost hunters is decent. its an hour so, so they're sowing a 8 hour investigation in like 44min - also, they spend about half of that 44 minutes "developing" the reality aspect of the show (talking about characters, telling the history of the place, "reviewing the evidence" -- so you really only get about 20 good minutes of action and evidence out of each show.

but its still much cooler if you're into that shit. i like TAPS cause they have top of the line equipment, and they have their own inventor who makes stiff specifically catered to them based off whatever the new theories are out in the "paranormal science" field.

they go into their investigations with the intention of DISPROVING the activity, and they try to debunk everything. the only way they'll go along with something is if they have some evidence. they even dismiss shit they see it its not on tape. they don take psychics out there or any BS (i wish they would once just cause)

damn i just got caught up for like half an hour looking for a video -- there was one epidosde where they had a guy who claimed to have psychic powers. so they had him give a 'reading' to one of the guys on the show, while they had a thermal IR camera set up on them. it was fucking insane, you could see the heat signatures coming off one dudes head and into the other guys. i really wish i could find it, i was totally amazed when i saw it. its crazy enough that it made me doubt my skepticism.

anyways, yeah, the 'scariest places' show sucks compared to the one that caters to cyincs and skeptics. silly screaming girls...

(and btw, kurtis, percocet always had the tendency to keep me awake late into the night. it depends on the person talking it, i guess)

Yeah, I'm still awake, but I think that's because I can't find a comfortable position with all this shit on my arm.

there are better episodes than that one...the one with black family in some haunted castle was very funny

the house with the beating heart was pretty crazy too

I wonder how long they had to wait to get the ominous clouds in the background.

I think Fear was pretty hard core

this one girl's challenge was to be strapped into the "tranquility chair" for like 3 hours or something

i hate "scariest places on earth."

they sent some highschool kids into a haunted house and they got some moving shadow on video. kid was like "OMF LOOK A GHOST I HAVE PROOF NOW!!!!"

they totally ignored the fact that it moved EXACTLY the same as the camera and obviously was somehow a reflection of the camera's IR.

kittyb if youre interested in that kind of stuff but cant stand the cheese, you'd like ghost hunters. its got some gay production (like it shows people screaming like something bad happened, then it comes back and it was someone seeing a spider or something dumb...)

but aside from that, the researchers are all pretty professional and serious. and they'd definitely laugh the shadow out of the room

im trying to find this one really cool clip to show you guys

they were getting a "reading" from a dude who claimed to be psychic.

on the thermal IR camera you could see the heat signatures being attracted from one guys head to the "psychic's"

it was wild. even if you dont believe in that stuff, it's cool. i'll try to find it still.

ps i think it comes on tonight on sci fi

ACTUALLY ITS ON RIGHT NOW, THE EPISODE ABOUT THE PLACE I POSTED IN THE FIRST POST!!!1

its on at 7, 8, and a new one at 9

sorry for the triple posts, i found a copy of the video

check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dem5q0Rj5-4

watch the part where the old man is giving the bald dude the psychic reading, then fast forward to the 5:00 mark and watch the next minute or so

you can see the energy leaving the guy and going to the "psychic", and then you can see the psychic wave his hand through the thermal field and make it all disperse.

its the neatest thing i've seen on there!

might be able to do it here instead of clicking the link. dont have to watch the whole 10 min unless you wanna

I haven't seen this but MTV FEAR was awesome and if you hate on it then you are dead wrong

They made a kid get inside a cadaver drawer in this abandoned hospital for 30 minutes and he's just layin there gibbering and going nuts

It was hella

i guess i never gave FEAR enough of a chance, then. i don't remember seeing any that i liked. oh well this show would be great if they kept the reality element out of it. replace the character development with more footage from THE HUNT!!1

PS: The show that I'm calling shitty is "Scariest Places on Earth" (i think on sciFi)

the show i'm telling you guys to watch is called "Ghost Hunters" on sciFi now

Why's it look all jerky like somebody took a heat lamp and just pointed it across the room. The makeup of the thermal field never fluctuated...

That looks so ridiculously fake.

that is one of the few things that i don't like about the show. a lot of the footage seems to be something that they happened to catch while panning to something else, etc. but you have to remember that a lot of it it just stuff they caught while walking around with a clamshell.

the video in question, i know what you mean -- and the camera filming that was pretty much stationary. the link i posted wasnt the best version of the clip out there. because of the production you get it a few seconds at a time, etc. mainly i just found it cool because it was the only thing i've ever seen that could POTENTIALLY (assuming its legit footage) actually create a scientific way to "prove" mind-reading or whatever.

i'd be a ton more skeptical about it if they didn't throw out like 9 out of every 10 bits of "evidence" that the team finds when they review everything. i've seen tons of episodes of their show, and listened to hours and hours of their radio show, read all their stuff online, their magazines, etc. kinda a hobby of mine, and these are seriously the only "paranormal researchers" that i believe/respect/trust/etc

they won't even count personal experience unless its somehow corraberated by audio or video or something.

i dunno, just my 2 cents. if you think its fake, thats your opinion. my opinion is that none of the stuff from TAPS (the atlantic paranormal society) is faked in any way. other people have opinions that some of it is faked.

just keep in mind that just cause i think the footage is legit, that doesnt mean that i think a ghost is causing the anomaly i'm on the fence with this one. if you're actually interested in any of it, i could link you to some of the videos and voice stuff that i found pretty interesting (no matter "who" made it)

heck yeah, its been on since 7. i noticed that the one on at 7 happened to be the "waverly hills" episode (which, as you may know, is the building in my first post)

i like to wait a while before i start watching so i miss commercials. waited way too long to start tonight.

since its 845 now... 44 minutes per show.... 132min. 2 hours 12 min.... i could start now and watch till 11 and see it all with no commercials

i'll probably watch waverly hills episode again, and then check out the new episode. and check out the 8pm rerun last in case im sleepy

yeah, 9 pm is the new episode.

sometimes the reruns are good. other times they're just background noise while i feed spiders.

i missed a lot of (i think) season 2 somehow... so when i get one on my dvr thats new to me, but not from this season, i just fast forward all the way to the part where steve and someone go through all the evidence and call jay and grant in...

at that point i decide if i wanna watch it all now, or if i wanna hold it till i'm bored
