i thought i setup a forward so it could goto my gmail account. but it doesnt.

is there some sort of alumni email system?

i didn't think that alumni.ncsu.edu existed. You can just forward your ncsu.edu to gmail. Assuming you can still access webmail.

yeah, i went to the site.

i could have sworn i did set it up right to goto my gmail account.

still not there. hmm, i sent myself a test message earlier.

maybe i need to call someone later on.

yah. im trying to think what/how i attempted to set it up. of course this was like 2 years ago.

ok this is weird.

so i sent my alumni account a test message from my gmail account. and i get nothing.

then i go into gmail settings to add my alumni account and it sends the confirmation email within a few minutes.

i didnt think i had to use gmail to set it up also. oh well.
so i had it halfway setup. good deal
it works.

It's basically a redirection address, in that you have to have access to another e-mail system to use it. They don't want to store anything, so anything that comes to jqpublic@alumni.ncsu.edu, the server checks its forward rule and off it goes to the account you have registered. If nothing is registered, the message gets dumped.

At least that is what I know of its workings.
