Thats one of the things that I hated about file sharing when I was in college. People would search by song title and assume that whatever the title of the file said was accurate.
"Stuck in the Middle With You" by Bob Dylan or "Stuck in the Middle With You" by Steve Miller Band "Play that Funky Music White Boy" by George Clinton
all stick out in my mind. 4/18/2008 4:36:45 PM |

Ah, the fun of mislabeled download tracks. Some common ones I remember:
"Life is a Highway" by Tom Petty (Actually Tom Cochrane, though Petty has performed the song so the occasional odd live version is correct)
"Patio/Bring Me In" by Dave Matthews Band (Song is actually by Nine Mile, one of whose members was named Dave Matthews, leading to the confusion. Helps that it sounds like it could have been DMB.)
"Walking in Memphis" by Bruce Hornsby (actually Marc Cohn) 4/18/2008 5:19:25 PM |

I'm tempted to make a chit chat thread to list mislabeled files like those. 4/18/2008 8:10:56 PM |

Mississippi Queen - Grand Funk Railroad (song is actually by the band Mountain, but i'm suprised how many people dont know this)
and not a mislabel but an assumed mistake is people who think Bad Company did "Alright Now". Same lead singer, but his earlier band Free. 4/28/2008 7:59:25 AM |

So apparently "Teenage Wasteland" is by The Who, not The Guess Who and it's not even named that.

I remember when I first started dating Saps and he was such a huge fan of Phish, I had heard of them, but ONLY because of that song...only it wasn't them.
However, he did get me into some of their music. No way in hell could I ever go to a show, and it drove me crazy when he wanted to sit and watch or listen to a whole show, but there were a few songs that I got into. 4/25/2020 12:20:43 AM |
