I tried searching for this, but the search function seems to be broken. Maybe you guys might have some advice.

I've been trying to figure out what to get my groomsmen as a groomsmen gift. My initial thought was something like an engraved zippo for each of them, but I know one of them doesn't smoke and another one may have stopped. Other than the non-smokers wife having a love for candles, I don't think he would get a lot of use out of it. The other common and perhaps useful thing would be some kind of utility or army knife, but I'm not 100% convinced that I want to do this. It's just the only other thing I can really come up with.

Does anyone else have any suggestions or perhaps even things they've received or given? I was hoping that someone might offer a suggestion that hits as being perfect for all of them. It doesn't have to be something useful or practical like a lighter or knife, but all the non-practical shit I've found at various websites just weren't that great.

So I just told them, a month or so before, to come over to my house and take any two books they wanted from my bookshelf.

They liked it. And when one of my groomsmen got married later, he did the same thing, and I got one of my books back

My buddy got a set of waterford crystal shotglasses for the groomsmen... we each got one... I thought it was really cool and I have one pimp ass shotglass that I use to leverage the power of shitty tequila. $8 1/5th $25 shotglass... it evens out in the end

at the last wedding we went to my bf was a groomsman and got engraved (w/initials) pint glasses from crate and barrel. and then they each got a mixed 6 pack of different unique beers from total wine. i thought it was a cool gift. because flasks/money clips are pretty overdone

I was a groomsman in my buddy's wedding a while back and he gave us each a handheld GPS device. I think they may have been @ $70 each. So, I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.

I think I'm leaning towards the pint glasses. They all drink beer I believe, and if not then they'll get uses from the glasses in general.

I never understood the tradition of groomsmen gifts.

When I've been one, it's because I would drive a long way to be there, or do a lot of things for the ceremony, just because he's a friend. Of all my groomsmen, if I asked them to do something for me, they would do it without really questioning it, just because I asked. And I did the same for them. Being their groomsmen was an honor, and they don't owe me anything for that. Getting a gift for it felt wrong, like I was being paid to do something I would pay to do.

Then again, I don't really like getting, or giving, gifts to anyone unless there is a genuine need in either direction. If I barely get up the motivation to participate at Christmas, this is definitely pushing it.

All my groomsmen were at least somewhat outdoorsmen, so I got them each a Gerber pocketknife. I didnt have them engraved or anything, and it cost me ~$30 a piece. Every dude can find at least some use for a pocketknife.

Leatherman tool

Just realized I don't think I've ever seen the leatherman tool since the rehearsal dinner. I know I left it in the restaurant, but I called and my girlfriend was supposed to have it.

That's a good one. Whatever you do get, make sure it is something practical that they would use. Yeah an engraved money clip looks cool and all but how often do people use money clips? I always just stick my money in my wallet. And now that I think about it, a nice leather wallet would actually be a pretty good gift for a groomsman.

it may be impersonal, but none of my groomsmen want something engraved that they will probably never use. i'd rather make them happy and just give them a $50 gift card so they can buy what they want.

flasks and pint glasses are cool and all, but i don't think i'd want that as a gift. i use my flask maybe once a year, and whenever i drink beer its out of the can/bottle. i've actually got my wedding coming up next week, so i'll post what i decided on then, because i don't want a certain best man finding out what he's getting

maybe the gifts should be a little more personal to the individual groomsman. one gets a nice knife cause they love to cook. one gets a new pocket knife cause they love to hunt and their powers combined you get venison for dinner!!!

when my parent's got married, the groomsmen gifts were money clips with the recipeient's name engraved on the front, and my parent's names and the date on the back. of course people don't carry so much cash these days and of those that do i'm sure few use a money clip, but its an idea.
