So.....
I need calculus II and III. I work around 35 hours a week.
I was thinking of taking calc II at wake tech for 12 weeks compared to only 4 at ncsu.... or just take it in the fall.
I'm ehhhhhhhhh.....not sure.
Tdub..help me out. 4/21/2008 11:51:51 PM |

Do the 12 week one. Cramming so much coursework into 4 weeks sucks since you have a test like every week and you won't retain the material as well. 4/22/2008 10:29:14 AM |

i'm an ISE major and i suck at calc during the school year but when i take it in summer sessions i'm a genius!!! less time to screw it up and less time to burn out! i have calc 3 st 271 & 2 and ise 311 over the summer in both sessions. it makes it east to work full time too because classes start and end early.
get them over with take early classes and you can get to the office by 10am! 4/22/2008 10:57:28 AM |

I always do better in classes I take over the summer due to less extra-curricular crap going on. I usually take just one class per session and it works out. I like the fast pace of it too, less boring. 4/24/2008 10:53:01 PM |

i took calc 2 over the summer here and thought it was really easy. *shrugs*. it's cheaper at wake tech. but i didnt have a car at the time so i had to deal with what was close.
also, if math isnt a strong point of yours, if you take it at wake tech and you barely pass, it only transfers as credit so it wouldnt destroy your GPA. 4/25/2008 12:20:33 AM |

agreed, they're much cheaper and easier to work with, the classes aren't necessarily any easier but you have a teacher instead of a researcher.4/25/2008 1:11:18 AM |

I basically taught myself calc 1 and 2. I took them with shitty grad students during summer sessions. Easiest thing I found was just buying the solution manual and solve as many problems as I could until I was dreaming about integration
Got an A- and a B in them 4/29/2008 5:57:42 PM |

to be in engineering you ought to be well-rounded. most engineering students will only hold a job title as a sort of engineer for like 8 years, then they usually move up to management.
so i believe communication skills are just as important as math ones, if not more so. Engineering is all about teamwork anyway, so someone who is more technical will end up doing more of the calculation work.

You're preaching to the choir. Bur regardless, engineers need GOOD math skills. Saying that they don't is basically ridiculous.4/30/2008 2:58:03 PM |

i mean, you need to know it, sure. you dont have to be a wiz at it though is all i'm saying. thats why you take all that crap before you matriculate to weed out those that really shouldn't be in engineering at all. 4/30/2008 3:48:17 PM |
