...wasn't a douchebag about anyone dying. I said nothing about the person that died.
I just stated that it's pretty irresponsible to not know that of a friend get your shit straight if you're going to call people names] 4/24/2008 6:34:19 PM |

No, you pretty much were a douchebag. I don't really see how could argue otherwise. 4/24/2008 6:36:49 PM |

That happened a few times a month back when I was cold calling
A few times I thought they were fucking with me, but sometimes the mere mention of their name would send the person on the other end into tears
Creeped me out at first but after a while its not a big deal 4/24/2008 6:39:16 PM |

EMCE=douchebag up there.
^Back home, that would never happen. Im from a small town and people call me when anyone near my age dies, just to ask if I knew them. 4/25/2008 4:52:38 AM |

When I was working for a political campaign in 2004 that would happen sometimes when the registered voter list we got was out of date. It usually ended up being pretty awkward. 4/25/2008 5:04:50 AM |

My mom and I were friends more than were relatives (long, complicated way of being related - always easier to say we were friends) with a woman named Heather. She was my mother's best friend. Before things got tough in our family, mom and heather had lunch every week (as long as heather was able), or coffee, or simply sat and read books together.
She had MS. I cleaned house for her. The week she died, I'd been over on Friday. Wasn't due for another two weeks. We rarely talked on the phone because it was a pretty significant ordeal for her. She had trouble lifting the remote.
Thursday morning (6 days later), I answer the phone, and my aunt is asking whether or not we're coming to the funeral. I'm like, uh, what?
When her husband left for work the day she died, she was fine. When he got home, she was septic, and died just as they reached the hospital (~15 minute trip). Her last words were 'please don't put me on life support' (she'd been a nurse before the MS)
Heather's husband and sister both assumed that my mother and I were the first person called by the other, so we were never called.
