what are some good/nice restaurants around Raleigh for an after graduation dinner?

What I know of:

Chop House
42nd Street
Kanki
Cheesecake Factory
PF Chang's
Est Est Est (closed down I think)
Maggiano's (south point)

what else is there?

fine, Kanki is alright.

Its fun and the food is decent. I don't know about the one here, but the PF Chang's I went to in Richmond was really good.

If you got your parents footing the bill, take advantage of that and patronize an NCSU alum's restaurant at the same time.

If you're feeling adventurous or like greek food, I'll throw in where I used to work:

http://www.xioscafe.com

Prices are VERY reasonable

Please dont go to tavola rossa... its lame. the owner is an ass, and if they get busy dont expect any type of service. Plus, if you sit inside, you wont have ANY privacy...

518 is ok, i still like mag better. the family style meal is so worth it. its like 25 a person you get like 2 salads 3 appitizers 3 main course and 2 desserts. and as much as you want.

Not to mention their chocolate ganache (sp?) cake is to DIE for. Best chocolate cake i've ever had.

Angus Barn- gone down hill the past 5 years
42nd Street- good in my opinion
Kanki- if you want the shits
Cheesecake Factory- everything is overpriced, food is shitty but cheesecake is good
PF Chang's- nothing bad to say but also nothing exceptionally good to say
Maggiano's (south point)- very big portions so make sure you are hungry

My dad suggested we go to Jimmy V's in Cary because I said I wanted a decent steak. I'd never heard of the place, but from the reviews it looks really good.

An Angus Barn kinda place, with a more NC State theme, and apparently excellent service. They also made a reservation for us and held it before we replied back with a yes or no, just to make sure we would have a spot. Seems like good service before you walk in the door, lol, their inquiry system on their website is fast (acc to my dad).

So far in this thread there are only two really good restaurants even mentioned..

Jimmy V's -- which you should go ahead and try to get a reservation. This is where most classy folks go for their graduation dinner, which is why I wasn't there

And Heron's

Hell, 2nd Empire is even a world above most of everything in this thread

agreed. This is one of my favorite resturants in the raleigh area. Start off w/ some mezenthes and end w/ baklava and greek coffee.
