What makes this final so difficult? He has changed up his class a bit from those in the past to make the tests longer.

There are generally too many questions on his finals. A few years ago, that was the problem for me.

I'd work backwards and start with the more valuable questions, and possibly practice those long ones more so you get faster at them

His tests and finals and homework are all the same. They are not hard. They are extremely easy. But as StillFuchsia said, you will be in there for all 3 hours and struggling to finish on time. I would highly practice these problems so you can do them fast.

And yeah, Hoon Hong's final can be tricky because (well when I took it) he mixed it up a bit and required you to apply more than just the one simple little portion of what he taught you about solving differential equations. You'd have to make a logical leap or two to solve half the problems on the test. I think I did this though and got an A- in his class, so it was cool. Just a PITA trying to learn everything.

Also, I took his final the next day after being in the ER for 8 hours because he wanted me to try to make it out to the exam. I made it in there, applied my knowledge with my feeble brain, then I got out of there with some time to spare and nearly collapsed on the way back to the car waiting for my ride. There's two lessons here: Don't think you can recover very quickly from being laid out on your ass and horrendously sick for hours. And always know that Hoon Hong's tests will not be that difficult as long as you know the material and can identify the patterns he's tried to teach you.

i friend in Hong's class a few years ago, he worked on the exam for awhile, asked to go to the bathroom, had another friend meet him in the bathroom with his notes, looked them over for the hard questions, then went back and finished the exam

and the thing is, he was like best buddies with Paul Cousnins when he was at State

The TA proctored the exam and sat up front typing on his laptop with headphones on

So I guess it was pretty easy to cheat....still, this guy had the audacity to open his notebook and look over it in the middle of the test

Maybe he was the student conduct decoy to see how many people would tell on him, and then when you don't, you fail. I gotta say he's either completely retarded, or baller as hell to not care, most likely a little of both.

Nah, he was sitting on the edge of the room in the front, they'd place a decoy where lots of people could see him (not just me and maybe a couple others)

I saw a lot of people doing that, some guy in the row in front of me pulled his notebook out to get some more paper out and just scanned over a problem while pulling some paper out.

Ive also never seen an exam where so many people left and come back in. I swear like 1/5 of the class went to the bathroom.

it's hard not to when the exam takes the full 3 hours for me, caffeine + small bladder makes it unavoidable

people cheating like that just makes my blood boil

The exam is to easy to cheat, but any exam that takes about 3 hours in the morning right after a lot of water and coffee, you gotta go.

haha...yeah i was in that exam. i noticed all the people leaving and whatnot (myself included). didn't notice the guy cheating though.

i spent like 10 mins going to the bathroom. took a walk around harrelson to clear my mind, came back in and finished the test. still got a D in the class though

that was my own dumbass fault. his exams were easy, i just didn't study for them enough and become fast enough at the problems because, well, i felt it was easy. oh well. its done. no more math for me. ever.
